BTS Will Appear on YouTube’s ‘RELEASED’ With Coldplay’s Chris Martin

On Sept. 9, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook of BTS will be interviewed by Coldplay's Chris Martin for a new episode of YouTube's 'RELEASED' series. After the episode, a new music video for BTS' song 'Permission to Dance' will premiere featuring YouTube Shorts from the band's Permission to Dance Challenge.

BTS released their third English-language single “Permission to Dance” on July 9. The septet then partnered with YouTube Shorts to kick off the Permission to Dance Challenge, which lasted from July 23 to Aug. 14. On Sept. 9, BTS will be guests on YouTube’s RELEASED series to discuss the Permission to Dance Challenge. The RELEASED episode with BTS will be hosted by Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

Coldplay’s Chris Martin will interview BTS for the ‘RELEASED’ episode

RELEASED is a weekly series put on by YouTube Originals. BTS fans will be able to watch the RELEASED episode with BTS on Sept. 9 at 11:45 p.m. EDT and Sept. 10 at 12:45 p.m. KST.

According to a press release, “The band will be joined by Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin, for an intimate conversation on what inspired the #PermissiontoDance Challenge on YouTube Shorts and to discuss their shared experience as global musicians. The special episode will also feature a selection of Shorts from the challenge created by BTS fans around the world including the U.S., India, Russia, South Korea, the United Kingdom and more.”

BTS previously covered Coldplay’s song “Fix You” during their episode of MTV Unplugged called “MTV Unplugged Presents: BTS.”

BTS shared a trailer for the ‘RELEASED’ episode with Chris Martin

On Sept. 3, a trailer for “BTS with Chris Martin” was shared on the BANGTANTV YouTube channel. The trailer opens with the members of BTS singing along to “Permission to Dance.” Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook then individually give some details about what to expect from the episode.

“Join us as we sit down for a conversation with Chris Martin on this week’s episode of YouTube’s RELEASED,” RM says in the trailer.

“We’ll talk about the positive vibes we felt during the challenge,” Jimin shares.

“Stay tuned to find out if your short made it into our compilation video,” says J-Hope.

Suga adds, “Don’t miss out on the official premiere party.”

“Set an alarm,” says Jin.

Jungkook continues, “This Thursday at 11:45 p.m. Eastern time.”

“Only on…” V says.

“YouTube!” The members conclude in unison.

Fans will get to watch a compilation of BTS’ Permission to Dance Challenge

With the Permission to Dance Challenge, ARMY around the world created 15-second YouTube Shorts incorporating the choreography of “Permission to Dance.” Participants were encouraged to use the hashtags #PermissiontoDance and #Shorts when sharing the videos.

At the end of the challenge, a select number of videos were chosen to be featured in a compilation video. The RELEASED episode with Martin will also showcase a few of the YouTube Shorts from the challenge.

Directly after the RELEASED episode concludes, the compilation video of Shorts from the Permission to Dance Challenge will premiere at midnight EDT on Sept. 10. The compilation video will act as a new music video for “Permission to Dance” and is titled “BTS ‘Permission to Dance’ MV (Shorts Challenge ver.).”

Fans can watch BTS’ RELEASED episode on the BANGTANTV YouTube channel on Sept. 9.
