Is Shawn Mendes’ ‘Wonder’ about Camila Cabello?

The titular track from Mendes upcoming album came out on Oct. 2. It’s all about, you guessed it, wondering what it would be like to be in a relationship with a certain someone. And for the “Youth” singer, that someone is Cabello.

In response to a fan’s question about to expect from the album, which comes out Dec. 2, the 22-year-old shared, “You’re getting lotssss of love songs for Camila.”

He also shared in an interview with SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up that the Fifth Harmony alum was present for a lot of the creation of the album. You know, the one that’s about her.

“I think it’s really interesting because when your girlfriend is an insanely talented, real musician who writes her own music, it’s scary to write an album around her,” he said. “And she was with me when I was in the studio doing it.”

“She would do this thing, like, once a month,” Mendes continued. “‘Hey, just a reminder, this concept you’re on is incredible. It’s going to make people feel something really special. Don’t stop, don’t stop, don’t stop.’ It was this force of energy that I think was really helpful to keep me on a real cohesive [path].”

Cabello says dating Shawn Mendes has taught her ‘a lot about love’

And Mendes isn’t alone in expressing his love for his partner. On Nov. 28, the Cinderella star gushed over Mendes, saying that being in love with him has taught her a lot and that the difficult parts is what makes it all worth it.

Sharing a photo of her and Mendes kissing on a beach, Cabello wrote on Instagram, “I’ve learned a lot about love with this guy. It’s not just the happy blissful moments you see in pictures and videos- When you’re in a relationship with someone, it feels like they are this mirror reflecting yourself back to you- I constantly have to confront my fears, my anxieties, my insecurities, my patterns of thinking, my beliefs about life and about myself.”

The 23-year-old singer then added that social media doesn’t always show the truth about relationships, and that she and Mendes’ dynamic can get ugly.

“It’s not as simple as it looks in pictures sometimes. sometimes, it’s messy and uncomfortable and ugly lol,” she said. “But there’s nothing like the pull, the FORCE that is love, to be the light in the darkness- to be the gravitational pull that gives you the relentless strength to be braver, wiser, and better than you were yesterday.” The rest of the caption read:

“It’s so instinctive for us to love, even if our minds try to protect us from it sometimes, but our nature as humans is to love. And to be in love means to choose that person over and over again, to go through the messy stuff with. And that’s way more beautiful and raw and real than perfection. I’m all for being vulnerable on social media because I think only the neatness and perfection of life is shown on here; and that can make us all feel extra lonely and weird! So raise your glass to the messiness and weirdness of being human and the miracle. And the easiness. And the instinct. And the relentless force that is love.”

People can’t get enough of Cabello’s comments about romance.

“This is a beautiful way to put it all,” one comment on her post read.

“Luv this and the happiness love brings you both!!!” said another.

Chimed in another, “This is what love looks like.”

“Love you guys together,” another Instagram user commented.

Mendes’ documentary, In Wonder, is now streaming on Netflix, and it gives an even more intimate look into Cabello and Mendes’ relationship than they’ve ever shown before. No doubt, the Shawmila shippers are grateful.
