Cardi B and Offset are making headlines again, but not because of their relationship or any new music. The “Clout” collaborators found themselves in the news over the weekend of Oct. 23 after an interaction with the police left Offset in handcuffs. He has since been released, but those who missed what happened can find a recap below.

Offset was confronted by police while on Instagram

Offset took to Instagram on Oct. 24 and recorded himself in a traffic stop. Officers can be heard attributing the stop to reports that someone from inside the car had allegedly flashed a gun at attendees of a Trump rally in Beverly Hills, per XXL.

He denied any wrongdoing in the video, saying, “You just watch somebody beat my car up with a flag. What are you talking about?” He started going back and forth with the police before being pulled out of the car and detained.

During his detainment, Cardi B showed up and confronted the officers. She can be heard saying in a video obtained and published by The Daily Mail, “That’s my husband! Why are you pointing a gun at him?” But Offset was led away anyways.

Offset has since been released

Later in the day, TMZ reported that Offset had been released without charges. However, another passenger, Cardi B’s cousin Marcelo Almanzar, was reportedly charged with “possession of a concealed loaded weapon.”

After the incident, a representative for Offset shared a statement with People saying: “Artist and Philanthropist Offset was detained by the Beverly Hills Police Department following an attack by aggressive Trump supporters. He was released shortly thereafter.”

“Offset thanks his fans for their support and wishes everyone peace and safety during these trying times. He encourages everyone to get out and vote because nothing changes if nothing changes,” the official concluded.

Cardi B had made similar comments about what had happened earlier in the day, when she shared a video on social media showing her driving near Trump supporters. “Nah, we’re gonna get jumped. I really feel like we’re gonna get jumped,” she said in the video, per People. “Oh my God. Ah! Trump supporters are everywhere. I don’t like it.”

The news comes amid other Cardi B and Offset drama

The incident comes just over a month after Cardi B filed for divorce from Offset, whom she married in 2017 and with whom she shares daughter Kulture, 2. She filed for divorce on Sept. 15, citing irreconcilable differences. However, she announced in October that she and Offset had reconciled.

“Listen y’all, I’m just a crazy b*tch. You know how I be arguing with y’all on social media? That’s exactly how I be arguing with my man,” she said in an Instagram Live on Oct. 13.

“So when people say I be doing sh*t for attention, no, I’m just a crazy b*tch. One day I’m happy. The next day, I wanna beat a [N-word] up, like, ‘Aight, I’m gonna teach your a** motherf*ckin’ lesson. You think I’m motherf*ckin’ playing with your a**? Alright, we gon’ see. And then, I don’t know. It’s just like, I just be starting to miss him.”

Going on, she added: “I don’t know what it is. We’re really just two young motherf*ckers who got married early. That’s what we are. We aren’t no different than y’all f*ckin’ dysfunctional a** relationships. We’re just more public.”
