Cardi B Hopes To Make a Splash With Her Reebok Collaboration

Cardi B made serious waves on Instagram on Sunday when she posted a video of her newest business venture. The 28-year-old rapper is officially collaborating with Reebok. The reveal of her upcoming sneakers was just as outrageous and over the top as she is.

Cardi B has penned a deal to design sneakers with Reebok

Cardi B’s upcoming collaboration was no secret. The “WAP” singer announced the partnership back in October 2020 and told fans they needed to stay tuned for some exciting updates. That update finally came. In an Instagram video, Cardi opened a huge package to reveal a tongue. The tongue unraveled to display her newest design.

The sneakers are based on the existing Reebok Club C silhouette. The sneaker design, believe it or not, is older than Cardi B. Reebok first released the shoe back in 1985. The new version of the sneaker has been modernized and reimagined to craft a sneaker with a vintage but fresh feel. The shoes will be available in three different colorways.

When will Cardi B’s Reebok line launch?

While Cardi B’s unboxing caused a stir on the internet, fans who are hoping to get their hands on the rapper’s sneakers will need to wait a few more days. According to Reebok, the collaboration will officially launch on Nov. 13. Male fans of the rapper, however, are out of luck. Right now, the collection will only feature sneakers in women, children, and toddler sizing.

Cardi B has been working with Reebok since 2018, but the Nov. 13 launch is her signature design. Her initial work with the company was in the form of advertising. According to Fashion United, Cardi B helped Reebok promote their Aztrek sneaker in 2018, a throwback design that felt distinctly from the 1990s.

Reebok is hoping to score big with the collaboration

Sneakers companies have been working hard to find new ways to differentiate themselves. Nike and Adidas, currently the most popular sneaker companies for enthusiasts, both have successful collaborations. Nike is best known for its Jordan line of sneakers, and, in more recent years, their collaborations with Travis Scott. On the other hand, Adidas has scored big with the Yeezy line, which is designed by Kanye West. They’ve also found serious success working with Pharrell Williams.

Reebok, however, hasn’t had a massive hit just yet. High Snobiety called Reebok’s recent releases “criminally underrated.” The company, although offering thoughtful designs, has yet to capture the interest of the sneaker market. It’s possible a high profile collaboration with Cardi B could change all that.
