Cardi B has been making “money moves” since she first burst onto the hip-hop scene in 2017. Since then, the Bronx-bred rapper has found several other avenues of income besides just music. Still, one song of hers continues to make her a large amount of money to this day.

Cardi B has hit songs

Cardi B famously rose to prominence as an exotic dancer with a large social media following. She eventually joined the cast of Love & Hip Hop: New York and launched a music career with her first two mixtapes, Gangsta B*** Music Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. Not long after the release of GBM2 in 2017, she released her major-label debut single, “Bodak Yellow.” The song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The following year, Cardi B released her highly-anticipated debut album Invasion of Privacy. Among the hit songs on the project were “Drip,” “I Like It,” and “She Bad.”

‘I Like It’ makes Cardi B the most money

“I Like It” was built on the old-school Latin hit “I Like It Like That.” And as a Dominican artist herself, Cardi invited two other Latin artists to turn the party on the smash single: Bad Bunny and J Balvin.

In early 2022, “I Like It” became Cardi’s third song to be certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). With this win, she and Katy Perry remain the only female artists in the industry with three diamond records.

Cardi expressed her excitement about the achievement on Instagram. “My album came out in 2018 and it’s still breaking records,” she said. “I have a solo [diamond] record, a feature [diamond] record and now ANOTHER [diamond] record from a collab with 2 people that I look up to and love so much, J Balvin & Bad Bunny!”

“I remember like it was yesterday when this song went #1 and now it’s Diamond,” she continued. “I honestly just can’t believe this is happening! I’m so proud to have two songs off my debut album go Diamond. I hope I can achieve the same or even better on my next one. Thank you everyone that has supported and loved this record.”

Cardi even revealed that “I Like It” has been her most lucrative song over the years. “Fun fact: This song started my great relationship with Balenciaga and is the record that gets me the most coin since it’s requested for commercials and brands all the time.”

Cardi B’s second album is reportedly on the way

Since 2018, Cardi has released earth-shattering singles that have hinted that an album is on the way, including “WAP” and “Up.” She’s been busy with other ventures including her vodka-infused whipped cream and her new job as the creative director of Playboy’s new Centerfold platform, Cardi insisted in an Instagram Live that she wants to finally release her sophomore album in 2022.

“I feel like at this point, it’s like a timeline that I created. Because last year I was like: ‘I gotta put out my album this year.’ But, then I just stopped working on my album out of nowhere because I feel like the whole COVID thing discouraged me to put out my album. Because I want to put out an album, and I want to tour,” she said.

“I don’t feel like if I do like, an album promo run and everything, like, there’s no feelings to it, me doing interviews with people through a computer. I want to meet up with people. I want to have a conversation. It’s a better vibe.”
