Fans are still reeling from the tragic and untimely death of actress Naya Rivera. Friends and family of the Glee actress have been rallying together to find comfort since the star’s passing. But lately, some fans have been wondering if Naya’s ex-husband Ryan Dorsey and her sister Nickayla have been spending too much time together.

What happened to Naya?

Naya was reported missing on July 8 after she rented a pontoon boat and took her 4-year-old son Josey out on Lake Piru. Hours later her son was found sleeping in the boat alone. When the police spoke to him, the child said that his mother went swimming and never came back.

Dive teams looked for Naya for days before finally finding her body on July 13.

Ryan and Nickayla’s new arrangment

After Naya died, Dorsey and Nickayla decided to move in together to coparent Josey. They currently live in a three-bedroom house in San Fernando Valley of LA.

“Since the devastating loss of Naya, Ryan’s role in parenting has of course been amped up,” a source told Entertainment Tonight. “He’s the primary caregiver, but has been relying very heavily on Nickayla. He would not be able to do this without her help and involvement.”

The relationship between the two has not turned romantic. They are living together to make things easier on Josey.

“They simply share the same goal — to give Josey the best childhood possible and to raise him the best they can without Naya,” the source continued. “They’ve also found comfort in one another because they understand what each other is dealing with and they know how exhausting it can be to be grieving in the public eye while trying to keep it together for Josey.”

According to the source, Josey has been adjusting to this new reality quite well, all things considered. The source described Josey as a happy, sweet, and playful boy and said that the three of them have been able to find moments of joy throughout this tragedy.

Nickayla has a message for haters

Though reports have said that the two have been solely living together to co-parent Josey, Nickayla and Dorsey were recently seen at Target holding hands, which made people wonder just how platonic the relationship really has been.

“They seem really comfortable together and are obviously helping each other through a very difficult period in both their lives,” the witness who spotted the pair at Target together told Daily Mail. “They were fooling around and chatting the whole time. They’re obviously helping lift each other’s spirits.”

Nickayla recently took to her Instagram Stories to clear things up.

“In the darkest times of my life, the only thing that is important is my friends and family,” she wrote. “Showing up for my nephew, even though I can’t show up for myself. I’m not concerned with the way things look because no one can see each agonizing moment we all endure.

“What matters most I’ve learned, is to show compassion, not to judge others, and never take a moment of life for granted,” she continued. “I hope you all can do the same.”
