‘Chesapeake Shores’ Season 6: Cast Speak Out on Renewal Rumors
Will there be a Chesapeake Shores Season 6? After a major cliffhanger in the season 5 finale, fans are eagerly waiting to find out whether the Hallmark Channel series will be canceled or renewed. Cast members are also waiting for news about the show’s fate, with two actors recently speaking out on social media about rumors that Hallmark had quietly given a green light to another season.
Meghan Ory weighs in on ‘Chesapeake Shores’ renewal rumors
On Nov. 4, SpoilerTV reported that Chesapeake Shores Season 6 was scheduled to begin production in April 2022. That came as news to series star Meghan Ory, who plays Abby O’Brien.
“Sorry @spoilertvphotos but if this is true @hallmarkchannel has not shared with me!!” she wrote in a now-deleted Instagram Story. “I like your positivity though!”
The Once Upon a Time alum added that she was curious about the source of the story. “It’s so much drama! I’m curious where this story came from.”
Ory’s co-star Treat Williams also saw the report and weighed in. “This is interesting,” he wrote in a tweet.
Hallmark Channel hasn’t made an announcement about ‘Chesapeake Shores’ Season 6
Unfortunately for fans, it sounds like all the talk of Chesapeake Shores Season 6 is more rumor than fact. Hallmark Channel has not made any official announcements about the show’s future, and the network did not respond to Showbiz Cheat Sheet’s request for comment on the renewal rumors.
More than 2 million people watched the Chesapeake Shores Season 5 finale, which aired Oct. 17. The show was the No. 1 most-watched scripted original on ad-supported cable among women 18+ during its 10-week run, according to the network.
Fans are hoping for a resolution to the season 5 cliffhanger
Excitement for season 6 is high among Chessies given the dramatic final moments of season 5. In the season-ending episode, Connor (Andrew Francis) collapsed after suffering an apparent heart attack. His fate was left up in the air as the credits rolled. Plus, fans were left wondering if Megan (Barbara Niven) would take an around-the-world trip with her ex-husband Mick (Williams). Finally, there was the question of whether Abby had called Evan (Robert Buckley) or Jay (Greyston Holt) to accept an offer of a date.
On Twitter, Francis urged fans to let their friends know how much they loved Chesapeake Shores and encourage them to watch the show.
“You’re our best fans, but we need more of you to continue these great stories! SPREAD THE WORD! It’s our duty,” he wrote. “Let everyone know that @hallmarkchannel has one of the best shows on television -and that show is #ChesapeakeShores! Much love!”
Chesapeake Shores Season 5 is currently streaming on Hallmark Movies Now.
