Fans worried Stella Kidd was leaving Chicago Fire after she left Chicago to pursue her Girls on Fire program. Thankfully, showrunner Derek Haas verified fans would see Kidd again in the Chicago Fire Season 10 fall finale. And it seems like actor Miranda Rae Mayo isn’t going anywhere, either, meaning we’re likely to see Kidd for more seasons of the show to come.

With that said, it’s unclear whether Kidd will remain with Firehouse 51. During Chicago Fire Season 10 Episode 9, Kelly Severide grew visibly worried about when — or if — Kidd was coming back at all. Chief Wallace Boden also spoke to Severide about Kidd potentially taking over for Matt Casey. But Boden noted his disappointment in Kidd not taking initiative and returning to the firehouse with the open position.

“Four weeks became eight,” Boden told Severide of Kidd’s absence in Chicago. “Boston became Concord became Philadelphia. I was willing to help her cover the additional furlough, but now, after she knew that we had an open spot for a truck lieutenant, she didn’t immediately come and claim it. So, you tell me. Is there something more going on here that I’m not seeing?”

The Chicago Fire Season 10 fall finale brings back Stella Kidd at the end of the episode. Kelly Severide opens the door to his home and sees Kidd has arrived back to Chicago, bags still by her side. She and Severide look at each other for a few moments before she speaks.

“Hi, Kelly,” Kidd says first.

While Severide is likely happy to see her, he says nothing. Instead, he looks at her with concern. Chicago Fire Season 10 Episode 9 ends with Severide looking sadly at Kidd while never taking further footsteps toward her.

What does this mean for Stella Kidd and Kelly Severide moving forward? It’s clear the two have a strained relationship given the recent distance between them. Additionally, Severide seemed to establish a connection with Wendy Seager. Seager and Severide went out to dinner to discuss official documents, but their body language turned flirtacious.
