Is Chicago Fire Season 10 new tonight, Dec. 15, 2021?
Chicago Fire Season 10 Episode 9 gave fans exactly what they were looking for. Matt Casey (played by Jesse Spencer) left Chicago Fire midseason, shocking viewers. Casey was a mainstay on the show since the very beginning, and fans were left to wonder who would take over as lieutenant of Truck 81. In episode 9, Chief Wallace Boden gave Jason Pelham the position — though he wanted Stella Kidd to have it. Finally, at the very end of the episode, Kidd returned to a confused Kelly Severide.
So, is Chicago Fire Season 10 new tonight, Dec. 15, 2021? Unfortunately, NBC’s One Chicago fans will have to wait for another hiatus to end before the season continues. On Dec. 15, the sitcom Mr. Mayor airs during Chicago Fire‘s usual timeslot of 9 p.m. EST. The episode slated to air has a holiday theme. The following week, on Dec. 22, Dr. Seuss’s The Grinch begins at 8 p.m. EST and plays through the 9 p.m. EST timeslot.
When does ‘Chicago Fire’ return in 2022?
So, when does Chicago Fire Season 10 return in 2022? According to One Chicago Center, Chicago Fire will return with Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022.
Showrunner Derek Haas gave a clue for what’s to come with Chicago Fire Season 10 Episode 10. He told Entertainment Tonight that the season begins “immediately after the events of [episode] No. 9. No. 10 starts right in the aftermath of that. You’ve got a situation where it’s musical chairs [at Firehouse 51] and there’s one too many people and not enough chairs, so that’s going to come into play.”
The current hiatus won’t be the last for Chicago Fire, either. NBC will air the Winter Olympics in February 2022, which means the One Chicago shows will be put on hold yet again. The season will then return without any more breaks once the Olympics finish on Feb. 20, 2022.
Is Stella Kidd staying on season 10 for good? Here’s what showrunner Derek Haas said
With Chicago Fire Season 10 Episode 10 picking up right where episode 9 left off, Stella Kidd’s return will certainly be addressed. Kidd’s return and Kelly Severide’s surprised look ended the fall season finale. So, will Kidd stay with the firehouse for good now that she’s seemingly back? Or will she return to her work with Girls on Fire in another city?
When Derek Haas spoke to Entertainment Tonight, he made it sound like Kidd returns to the firehouse for good. He explained Severide felt “abandoned” by Kidd leaving for so long, and that serves as “a source of concern going into the second half of the season.” And it seems episode 10 features a lot of Kidd.
“Watching episode 10, I was just beaming — I love Miranda anyway — but getting to see Stella Kidd in action is always fun for me,” Haas added.
