‘Chicago Fire’ Season 10: Stella Kidd Likely to Return in Holiday Episode

NBC’s One Chicago fans can’t wait to see what’s in store for the remainder of Chicago Fire Season 10 in 2021. Many fans felt absolutely wrecked by Matt Casey’s exit — and they can’t imagine any other major characters leaving now that Casey’s gone. So, is Stella Kidd leaving Chicago Fire? Showrunner Derek Haas promised she’d return — and we’re guessing we may see her again in the 2021 holiday special.

Is Stella Kidd leaving ‘Chicago Fire’? She’s been noticeably absent in season 10

Stella Kidd’s absence in Chicago Fire Season 10 has fans wondering if she’s gone for good. So, where has she gone? One Chicago Center reminds us she’s no longer in Chicago alongside her fiancé, Kelly Severide. Instead, she temporarily moved to Boston to work on her Girls on Fire program which has served as a major storyline for her across multiple seasons.

Stella Kidd actor Miranda Rae Mayo spoke to Looper about her character’s arc, too. Mayo noted she’s happy Kidd’s getting her own storylines that aren’t directly connected to Severide, as she can really make the character her own.

“I’m kind of blown away at just how this is the first time ever that she has had such a prominent storyline and that it’s really all about her and her world and it hasn’t been directly connected to Severide,” she told Looper. “Severide has been kind of the supporting character. That’s really fun to watch and to experience. I’m just seeing her develop into this leader by way of encouragement. It has really been a lot of fun to play with and to act out.”

When will Stella Kidd be back on ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 10? Showrunner Derek Haas gave a clue

While Miranda Rae Mayo’s character is busily developing her own program, will Stella Kidd be back on Chicago Fire Season 10? Showrunner Derek Haas talked about Kidd’s eventual return. He told TVLine she will make her way back on the show “before the end of this calendar year,” which doesn’t leave much time.

The One Chicago shows are currently on their holiday break until Dec. 8, 2021, according to the official Twitter. Additionally, One Chicago Center reports Dec. 8 will actually mark the fall finale for the One Chicago shows until 2022. And Haas also mentioned Chicago Fire will get a special holiday episode. This likely means the holiday episode will air on Dec. 8.

Given this info, there’s likely only one episode left of Chicago Fire Season 10 in 2021. And if Kidd really is returning within the calendar year, she’ll have to arrive in the holiday episode.

Derek Haas said fans won’t want to miss the holiday episode

What’s in store for the Chicago Fire Season 10 holiday special? Showrunner Derek Haas hasn’t given fans any clues regarding the plot — but he did note it’s an episode fans won’t want to miss. Chicago Fire has done a few holiday specials in the past, but this marks the first in a number of years.

“For the first time in years, as long as I can remember, we’re doing a holiday episode,” Haas told TVLine. “Episode 9 is going to make the Hallmark Channel jealous of our holiday episode.”

We can’t wait to see what happens — and who fans may get to see — in the fall season finale of Chicago Fire.
