Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episodes 14 and 15 centered around Kim Burgess and Adam Ruzek. Burgess and Ruzek decided they would move in together and co-parent Makayla, Burgess’s daughter. This comes after many years of trying to make their relationship work, of course. Now, Burgess and Ruzek remain close, but they’re not officially romantically linked.

During Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episode 14, Burgess had to fight for custody of Makayla. Makayla’s uncle hoped to take the child back into his care, but Burgess won. Unfortunately, the drama didn’t end there. Makayla was then taken at the end of the episode. Season 9 Episode 15 then focused on Burgess and Ruzek working together to get Makayla back.

“I think it’s like we’re the nucleus going rogue,” Burgess actor Marina Squerciati said of Burgess and Ruzek to CinemaBlend. “What I like about the way they write the show is we each get these meaty episodes. And then when the s*** hits the fan, we’re all like, ‘And we’re in.’ It’s just really nice …. It is a family and you see that dynamic, which is nice.”

Kim Burgess and Adam Ruzek have undeniable chemistry through Chicago P.D. Season 9. And both actors Marina Squerciati and Patrick John Flueger know it. While speaking to Us Weekly, Squerciati said there’s a “sexuality” to the characters’ relationship — especially now that they’re living together but not officially back together romantically.

“I think it’s great,” she told Us Weekly of Burgess and Ruzek’s situation. “I was confused by it, because you don’t really see things like this on TV. And so in the beginning I remember being like, ‘Wait, they’re living together, but not sleeping together? What’s happening?’ It just doesn’t [happen], that sort of platonic love. But there is a sexuality to it. It’s not represented that much. And I love it.”

“It’s complicated,” Flueger noted. “It’s not easy. And they lean on each other and they hurt each other and they beat each other up.”

With the Makayla ordeal through Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episodes 14 and 15, what does this mean for the couple moving forward? Will Adam Ruzek and Kim Burgess get back together?

Patrick John Flueger thinks so. “Will they? Won’t they? Well, they will, but not going to in the way that you think they’re going to,” he told Us Weekly. “I think at the end of the day, they’ll end up together, but I don’t think it’s an easy road to get there.”

On the other hand, Flueger also told CinemaBlend that Ruzek and Burgess approach life very differently, presenting conflict. “I think Ruzek is in love with both of them,” the actor added. “You know, he wants it as much as he can, but at the same time, they just have different approaches to life. So we’ll see.
