Chicago P.D. Season 9 is coming soon, and fans can’t wait to see what’s in store after that horrifying Chicago P.D. Season 8 finale. The finale left plenty of questions regarding Kim Burgess’s health. And fans want to know what’s going to happen after Hailey Upton proposed to Jay Halstead. Here are the episode titles and synopses of Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episodes 1 and 2.

‘Chicago P.D.’ Season 9 Episode 1 title and what we expect to see

Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episode 1 will likely start off right where Chicago P.D. Season 8 left off. At the end of the season 8 finale, Kim Burgess was rescued after getting shot twice in the stomach. Thankfully, her quick thinking saved her, as she played dead after her attack and crawled into a vehicle when it was safe to do so.

Additionally, Hailey Upton proposed to Jay Halstead at the end of season 8. This shocked Jay, and he didn’t give her an answer. Fans hope to see his answer in the season 9 premiere. Additionally, we expect to see the fallout of Hailey and Hank Voight’s actions. Hailey killed the perpetrator who shot Burgess, and Voight did away with the body without telling anyone else what occurred.

So, what is the Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episode 1 title? The first episode is called “Closure.” According to One Chicago Center, the official synopsis reads, “When a P.D. informant is murdered, the team digs in to track down the perpetrator only to learn a shocking truth. Voight and Ruzek strategize to help Burgess.”

Episode 2 title and synopsis

As for Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episode 2, Reddit users note the episode is titled “Rage.”

“Officer Kim Burgess fights for her life as the team scrambles to find her kidnapper,” the synopsis reads. “Dep. Supt. Sam Miller is desperate to find her son’s killer. Voight and Upton deal with the aftermath of their deadly decision. Ruzek struggles with the pressure of the situation.”

While Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episode 1 might not get to the full extent of Voight and Upton’s past deadly decision, it looks like they may see the fallout in episode 2. Whether it’s Sam Miller, or Kim Burgess, or any of the others in the P.D., they’ll want to know everything they possibly can about the killer’s whereabouts — and it’s going to look suspicious if Upton and Voight don’t assist.

Could a ‘Chicago P.D.’ cast member die in the first two episodes?

It is possible a Chicago P.D. cast member dies early on? Fans want to know if Kim Burgess is in the clear with her injuries or not, as her future was uncertain by the end of season 8. Fortunately, it sounds like we’re not finished seeing Burgess just yet. Actor Marina Squerciati talked about her character’s future in the new season.

“She’s really affected in the beginning,” Squerciati told HELLO!. “Whatever she is suffering though, she’s put a mask on in front of her kid, which is something we all do. We want to show our kids our best selves [because] we want to make them into the best people we can. But she is fighting a darker side of herself and that’s winning.”

Hopefully, Burgess can fully recover from her injuries — though we’ll have to wait and see how the attack affects her moving forward.

The Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episode 1 premiere date is Sept. 22, 2021, at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
