Of the early Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, the first Thor movie seemed like perhaps the biggest gamble. After all, the film featured then-unknown Chris Hemsworth and marked the MCU’s first step into the cosmic realm. But the movie was a hit, catapulting Hemsworth to action hero fame. Now, however, his stunt double admitted the actor might need to stop putting on so much muscle.

Chris Hemsworth has packed on even more muscle in 2021

Since his 2011 debut as the God of Thunder, Hemsworth has played Thor in another six Marvel movies, including Avengers: Endgame. In fact, he’s perhaps the most notable new MCU star to join the A-list. While Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans have become more popular, they had significant filmographies behind them before joining the Marvel universe.

Hemsworth, on the other hand, has leveraged the exposure, fame, and financial success of the MCU to take on other action roles. The actor starred in physically demanding roles in 2012’s Snow White and the Huntsman, 2015’s In the Heart of the Sea, and 2020 Netflix release Extraction. And in 2021, he’s reportedly been taking his workouts even more seriously.

His stunt double thinks the ‘Thor’ actor might be going too far

Hemsworth’s godlike physique certainly befits his role as a Marvel superhero. And fans seem to be loving how ripped he’s gotten to play Thor and other action-heavy roles. But there’s at least one person who hopes Hemsworth lets up on all the muscle mass at some point: Hemsworth’s stunt double Bobby Holland Hanton.

“Everyone’s like, ‘Wow, look at the size of him,’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah, it’s brilliant, now I have to put on that size too,'” Hanton told Australian radio show Fitzy & Wippa. “I text him and I’m like, ‘Thanks very much, dude, it’s going to be even harder this time.'”

Hanton doubles for Hemsworth again in the upcoming release Thor: Love and Thunder. In the past, even the actor’s family was taken aback by his ultra-masculine turn as Thor. Now Hanton promises fans the actor is the “biggest Thor he’s ever been.” Likewise, Hanton has tons of pressure to keep up, admitting it’s a “big challenge” to prepare for Hemsworth’s latest film.

Chris Hemsworth is set to play Hulk Hogan in an upcoming biopic

In addition to his next round in the MCU, Hemsworth has another much-anticipated project in the works. The actor will play wrestling legend Hulk Hogan in an upcoming biopic. While the movie’s release date remains unannounced, Hemsworth has addressed the challenge that lies ahead.

“As you can imagine, the preparation for the role will be insanely physical,” Hemsworth said of playing Hogan. “I will have to put on more size than I ever have before, even more than I put on for Thor. There is the accent as well as the physicality and the attitude.” Sounds like another tough job for Hanton.
