Cobra Kai Season 4 only just landed on Netflix at the end of 2021, but many fans already can’t wait to see what will happen after that shocking All-Valley Tournament twist. Thankfully, the streaming service renewed Cobra Kai for season 5 back in August. It’s only a matter of time before the next chapter arrives. Here’s everything we know about Cobra Kai Season 5 so far.

[Spoiler alert: The following story contains spoilers for the Cobra Kai Season 4 finale.]

‘Cobra Kai’ Season 5 finished filming in December 2021

Netflix is already way ahead of the game for next season. Just days before season 4 hit Netflix, Cobra Kai co-creator Jon Hurwitz took to Twitter to reveal that the cast had concluded season 5 filming. He shared a photo of himself sitting alongside co-creator Josh Heald on a plane. Heald held up five fingers to represent season 5.

“Five. Fin. #ByeAtlanta #CobraKai,” the caption read.

Unfortunately, Netflix has yet to confirm a release date for season 5. The past two seasons arrived on Jan. 1, 2021, and Dec. 31, 2021, respectively. With the new season already filmed, it seems likely Netflix will follow the same pattern or maybe drop season 5 even sooner. At this point, it all depends on how long the post-production process takes.

More ‘Karate Kid’ cast members could join the spinoff series

Most of the season 4 cast members will likely return for Cobra Kai Season 5. That includes, of course, the original Karate Kid Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and his former nemesis, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka). Their karate students, including Samantha LaRusso (Mary Mouser), Eli Moscowitz (Jacob Bertrand), Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridueña), and others, should also return.

On the villains’ side, Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) will return, having taken over Cobra Kai after setting up John Kreese (Martin Kove) with a crime. His students, such as Tory Nichols (Peyton List) and Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan), will likely join him.

At the end of season 4, Daniel recruited Chozen (Yuji Okumoto), his enemy in The Karate Kid Part II, to help him take down Cobra Kai. Chozen’s return has sparked rumors that Terry might bring in his former partner — Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan). In The Karate Kid Part III, Terry hired Mike to fight Daniel.

In the season 4 finale, Cobra Kai shockingly defeated Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang Karate at the All-Valley Tournament with a match between Tory and Samantha. However, fans soon learned that Terry paid off the referee. Will that news become public in season 5, nulling Cobra Kai’s win?

Per their deal with Kreese, Daniel and Johnny will have to shut down Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang. However, they likely won’t give in that easily.

Fans don’t have any exact plot details for season 5 yet, but co-showrunner Hayden Schlossberg did share an ominous teaser on Twitter.

Cobra Kai Season 5 answers the long-asked question — what would have happened had Daniel lost at the end of Karate Kid Part 3?” he wrote. “Nerds of the Valley, be afraid.”

Cobra Kai Seasons 1 through 4 are now streaming on Netflix.
