Coi Leray is known for hit song, ‘Huddy’

Born May 11, 1997, in Boston, Massachusetts, Brittany “Coi Leray” Collins is currently 24-years-old. Raised in New Jersey, she began making music at 14 and dropped out of school two years later.

The artist then began working in sales before quitting to focus on music solely. She released her first single, “G.A.N.,” in 2017 on Soundcloud under the moniker Coi Leray, inspired by the Japanese fish koi.

The rapper began making noise the following year with the hit “Huddy” and her debut mixtape, Everythingcoz. She released her next mixtape, EC2, in Jan. 2019 before featuring in rapper Trippie Redd’s Life’s a Trip tour.

In Aug. 2020, she dropped her first extended play, Now or Never, and released the single “No More Parties” in Jan. 2021, which became her first Billboard Hot 100 song.

She previously dated Trippie Redd

In 2019, Leray and Redd announced they began dating and frequently updated their social media accounts with pictures and videos featuring each other. However, they called it quits after a few months.

Following their breakup, Redd threw shots at his ex-girlfriend in two songs included on his Nov. 2019 album, A Love Letter to You 4, titled “Coi” and “Leray.” She later responded to the songs on her Twitter by calling him a “b***h” and then joined the No Jumper podcast, where she discussed her former relationship in more detail.

While the rapper noted she didn’t regret her introduction as Redd’s girlfriend, noting they had a “public” relationship and knows he’s a “big dude out here,” she admittedly had a problem with the two songs named after her.

However, the rapper said she respected his ability to channel his emotions into music. In Aug. 2020, Leray dropped a steamy music video to “Slide” alongside rapper Gunna, causing some fans to believe the two have begun dating.

Benzino is Coi Leray’s dad

Rapper, producer, and Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta star Raymond “Benzino” Leon Scott is the father of Leray, his only daughter. In an Aug. 2020 DJ Vlad interview, the rapper spoke about the relationship with her father.

According to the “Better Days” artist, her parents separated after her dad resigned from the hip hop periodical he co-owned, The Source, following a public feud with rapper Eminem. She claims he didn’t have as much money anymore and had to live with her mom, where she dropped out of school to get a job at the age of 16.

In the 2021 popular single, she threw shots at her dad, rapping she felt let down by him. Benzino responded on Instagram, contending he was a part of her life growing up. He also claimed she never struggled, as she said, insisting his daughter was “raised in a mansion.”

The two continued going back and forth, with Leray writing, “I’m embarrassed to be your daughter” at one point. He later reported their feud ended by posting a screenshot of messages between them where they seemed to work out their differences.
