‘Counting On’: Jana Duggar Pokes Fun at Marital Status with ‘Please Form Single Line’ Photo on Instagram
Jana Duggar is 30 years old and still single. This fact isn’t noteworthy except for one thing — she happens to be part of a family who places infinite value on women getting married and having babies at a young age. The Duggars became famous on 19 Kids and Counting and later Counting On for showcasing their countercultural ways.
Fans spend hours speculating why Jana is still unmarried and living home with her parents, as all unwed singles must in their family. They propose that Jana is secretly gay, that she’s overly picky, that she’s content, or that she’s being held captive to babysit her young siblings. No one knows the true story.
But Jana explained it simply: she hasn’t met the right man yet. Her most recent Instagram post even pokes fun at her perpetually single state.
Jana Duggar has her own Instagram account
There’s one family rule that Jana broke by joining social media. Most Duggar daughters don’t sign up for Instagram until they get married, and once that happens they create joint accounts with their spouses. Jana got sick of waiting and went solo on social media.
Jana is a popular Duggar and fans love getting a deeper glimpse into her life, which includes traveling (sometimes with her father, sometimes not), gardening, and doing renovation projects for her parents, among other pursuits. She also shares plenty of selfies showing off her fashion sense. On one recent occasion, she highlighted her sense of humor.
She’s able to laugh at being single
Jana is quite aware how many people, including total strangers, are focused on her singlehood. She’s made pithy comments in the past and most recently shared a hilarious snapshot broadcasting her single state.
In the image, Jana stands beneath a sign which reads, “Please form single line.” Her caption is just the megaphone emoji.
Fans immediately flooded the comments section with words of support, saying they’re rooting for her and happy for her no matter what. One gentleman even offered to be first in line to court the 30-year-old.
Jana said she’s waiting for the right person to come along
Rumors of courtships crop up every once in a while, but so far, no one has managed to capture Jana’s heart permanently. When a fan said they would love to see Jana find her handsome prince, she had a fun reply.
“Maybe he’s riding in on a green turtle instead of a white horse,” she said in response on Instagram. “Still searching for Mr. Right. In the words of Michael Bublé, “Just haven’t met [him] yet!”
She does want to get married one day
Jana likes to joke around, however she does ultimately want to get married and have a family one day. She spoke candidly with US Weekly about the topic and said she’s keeping busy for now while looking forward to the future.
“Yes, I long to be married and one day I think that will come, but I think … I’m just also just trying to stay busy with whatever comes along my path, and just making the most of these single years,” she said in the interview.
“And then, when that time comes, it’ll be the next season of life, and so … I think if I sit there and I’m like, ‘Oh no! I’m not married,’ and just all worried about it, it makes things way worse.”
