Joy Duggar and Austin Forsyth share one son, Gideon, and the Counting On stars are spending as much time with the little boy as possible before their daughter arrives in August. The couple recently joined best friends Carlin Bates and Evan Stewart for an Independence Day celebration, and based on the video, it looks like they might already know who they want their son to marry.

Joy Duggar and Austin Forsyth love spending time with Gideon

The couple wed back in May 2017 and didn’t wait long to start a family. Within nine months, Duggar and Forsyth welcomed their first child. It even sparked rumors that Duggar had become pregnant before her wedding day, since the two decided to move the wedding up by five months seemingly out of nowhere. In the spring, Duggar announced that she and Forsyth are pregnant again, so they’re soaking up the last few months of Gideon as an only child.

Fans think Gideon is one of the happiest Duggar grandchildren

Fans have long adored Gideon, and as he grew from a baby into a toddler, his blatant joy for the little things caused fans to appreciate him even more. Forsyth posted photos of his son at the airport during some father-son bonding time, and fans were obsessed with his huge smile and exciting energy.

When Duggar posted a video of Gideon showing off his “happy face” and “mad face” people once again could see his budding personality and loved that he seemed so genuinely happy.

Carlin Bates joked about Gideon marrying her daughter, Layla

Duggar recently posted a video of her Fourth of July weekend, which was spent alongside her husband and son, plus her two best friends, Carlin Bates and Evan Stewart. In the video, Duggar noted that Bates and Stewart had come to Arkansas to buy a car and decided to stay the weekend.

Later in the video, Bates joked that her daughter, Layla Rae, had still never met Gideon, despite that the two women have been friends forever. “One of these days, our children is [sic] finally gonna meet,” Bates said. “He just doesn’t know it, but they’re gonna be future husband and wife.” At that point, Duggar let out a loud laugh.

Though Duggar didn’t necessarily agree, it might have planted the seed in her head that her son and Bates’ daughter could be a perfect match.

It’s unclear if Duggar and Forsyth will enforce strict courtship rules on their children

Some who follow the family have often wondered whether the Duggar kids will enforce strict courting rules on their own children. Right now, none of the grandkids are anywhere near courting age and likely won’t be for almost another decade. But some have debated whether Duggar and Forsyth will enact the same conservative rules on their own kids. So far, it seems that they’re mostly sticking with the way they were raised — Duggar only wears dresses and skirts, the two don’t have a television in their home, etc. — but that could change at any point.
