Jinger Duggar opened up about having a miscarriage last year

Earlier this year, Jinger and her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, announced that they’re expecting a little girl in November. Fans were thrilled, since Jinger and Jeremy hadn’t had any pregnancy news in nearly two years.

Last fall, fans started to suspect that Jinger was pregnant when a Thanksgiving photo appeared to show a baby bump. But with no announcement, fans presumed she and Jeremy were waiting a bit longer. Then, after the couple’s May news, Jinger shared with her followers that she and Jeremy actually had been pregnant last fall but lost the baby to a miscarriage. “The overwhelming feelings of joy and anticipation… Are a sharp reminder of the overwhelming feelings of sadness and loss I felt last November,” Jinger said.

Joy Duggar recently left words of encouragement on Jinger’s post

Jinger’s story was all too familiar to her younger sister, Joy, who had been through something similar only a few months prior. In July 2019, Joy, who was 20 weeks pregnant at the time, went to the doctor for a regular checkup; she and Austin were excited to learn the gender of their baby. Sadly, Joy’s doctor could not hear a heartbeat and revealed that the baby was stillborn. Joy was induced, and she and Austin took photos with their little girl, Annabell Elise, before laying her to rest.

Joy has since given birth once more to a little girl named Evelyn Mae, and now, she’s encouraging Jinger as well. Jinger recently updated fans that she has entered her third trimester, and Joy expressed major excitement. “You’re beautiful, Jinger!” Joy wrote in the comments. “So thankful this pregnancy is going well and cannot wait for you to hold your baby girl in your arms!”

Fans loved to see the sweet bond between the sisters. “I absolutely love the way you are all so close and encourage one another,” a fan wrote.

Several women in the Duggar family have gone through miscarriages

Miscarriages are relatively common, with as many as 50% of pregnancies resulting in miscarriages — often before a woman even knows she’s pregnant. But several of the Duggar women have gone through them after learning they were expecting. Michelle Duggar has had multiple miscarriages, including losing her 20th child, Jubilee, during her second trimester. Lauren Duggar, who is married to Josiah, went through a miscarriage in 2018, shortly after she and Josiah were married.
