‘Counting On’: Fans Are Shocked By Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo’s Age Difference

Counting On stars Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo have been married for nearly four years, and they’ve become fan favorites among the show’s viewers. Fans think the two are more relatable than some of the other family members, though people were still surprised to learn the age difference between the two.

When Duggar and Vuolo met, it seemed to be love at first sight. The pair was introduced in early 2016, after Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald met Vuolo while on a trip to Austin, Texas.  Vuolo came to Arkansas to visit the family, and from there, he and Duggar were in almost constant contact.

The couple only courted for a few months before Vuolo popped the question, and they were married in November of that same year. The two moved to Texas after the wedding, though they didn’t start a family right away. Duggar and Vuolo enjoyed one another’s company for nearly a year before starting a family.

Fans were surprised to learn Vuolo is seven years older than his wife

The Duggars tend to wed young; most of them are no older than their early twenties when they tie the knot. This goes for Duggar, who was 22 when she and Vuolo wed. Surprisingly, though, Vuolo was nearly 30 when these two got married.

Vuolo is about seven years older than Duggar, which came as a surprise to some fans (or critics, rather) on Reddit. “I didn’t realize the big age difference between them,” one user wrote. “There is a seven year age difference between [Jeremy] and [Jinger],” another person wrote, adding, “I don’t mean to throw shade at anybody who has a relationship with an age gap.”

There have been rumors Duggar was not her husband’s first kiss

While few might know that Duggar and Vuolo are several years apart, there have been rumors that Vuolo wasn’t as sheltered growing up when it came to dating. Vuolo attended college, playing soccer at Syracuse University and eventually going on to play professionally, and some in his circle have said that Duggar was not his first kiss. There have also been rumors that Vuolo was a fan of attending parties, and he was arrested back in 2008 for harassing a police officer.

Duggar’s life has changed since marrying Vuolo

Although Duggar and Vuolo remain close with her family, they have separated themselves when it comes to their lifestyle. Duggar didn’t watch television or listen to music growing up; now, she and Vuolo have a TV in their home, and she’s started creating Spotify playlists featuring mainstream artists such as Ed Sheeran.

Duggar also moved away from her parents’ strict clothing rules; she was only allowed to wear long skirts and dresses as a child, though she now wears pants and occasionally shorts. It seems Vuolo has helped her step out of her comfort zone and create a life with fewer restrictions.
