‘Counting On’ Viewers Just Found a Major Clue That Hints At a Surprising Courtship
At this point, more than half of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar’s children have met or passed courting age. The Duggar family doesn’t believe in dating, and most of the kids who enter courtships marry young. The family recently announced Justin Duggar’s new courtship, but now, some viewers are convinced they’ve found another major clue that says Jeremiah Duggar could be courting as well.
The Duggar children were raised to court, not date
When Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar started their family, they implemented strict rules for their children — many of which revolve around intimacy. The Duggar kids are only allowed to enter courtships, which are relationships with the intention of marrying. The term “dating” is too casual for the family, who doesn’t believe in any intimacy before marriage. The kids do not kiss their partners before marriage and can only give side hugs.
Courtships tend to only last a few months, though some are as short as three or four weeks. The length of time depends on each child; Josh and Anna Duggar courted for two years before Josh proposed, while Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo only courted for a few weeks.
The family recently surprised fans with Justin Duggar’s courtship
Season 11 of Counting On ended with a surprise: Justin Duggar announced that he has started courting Claire Spivey, a 19-year-old from Texas. Justin also revealed that he has been spending time quarantining with Claire down in Texas, though she noted in her Instagram caption that they have been doing some long distance.
Justin and Claire’s parents have known each other for more than 20 years, but Justin and Claire first met back in early 2019. Fans weren’t expecting Justin to announce a courtship, though, since he’s only 17 and none of the Duggars have entered courtships while younger than 18. At the very least, it’s likely Jim Bob and Michelle will make Justin wait until he’s 18 to propose.
Some are convinced Jeremiah Duggar is now courting, too
The recent news about Justin’s courtship was exciting, but some viewers are convinced there is another courtship on the horizon. Reddit users, who tend to criticize the family, did some digging and learned that Jeremiah Duggar now has an Instagram account. (The account isn’t verified, but Jedidiah Duggar follows it.) Fans are now convinced that Jeremiah could be preparing to announce a courtship.
“They could pull a fast one and announce another courtship,” someone wrote on Reddit about the account. “Ooh, another courtship and the prospect of a Double Duggar Wedding Disaster?” someone else joked. “Would Jed and Jer have a double courtship and double wedding? Just a thought,” someone else added.
It’s unclear at this point if Jeremiah is courting. Someone mentioned that the Duggars might simply reserve Instagram names for when their kids have something to announce, so despite that Jedidiah follows the account, it might not be active yet. Another user suggested next season of Counting On could be the season of courtships for the Duggar boys, since all but a few are now at courting age.
