On August 15, 2021, a fan on Reddit made a post titled, “Who was the best and worst profiler in your opinion?” Fans will recall that many members of the team are profilers who catch the unsubs all across the country.
According to the Cambridge English Dictionary a profiler is “a person who predicts the likely behavior or description of someone such as a criminal, based on the information that is available about them.”
There are a number of members of the team that can be considered excellent profilers. Fans weighed in with their thoughts on “who was the best and worst profiler.”
Some fans chose Dr. Spencer Reid as the best profiler
As can be expected, fan opinions are all over the place. But Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) was mentioned the most as the best profiler. He is a genius with a lot of knowledge that contributed to numerous cases over the years.
“Best: Reid. Seemed to contribute the most to solving the more difficult/out the box cases,” a fan said.
Another fan added, “Best Reid -Without a doubt.”
Others mentioned Jason Gideon as the best
Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin) was also named quite a few times. He was a Senior Supervisory Special Agent according to his Fandom page. He had a natural gift for profiling the unsubs, that’s for sure.
“Honestly I would say Gideon for best,” a fan said.
Unit Chief Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson) and Dr. Spencer Reid were also named together by some fans. They are both intelligent and have assisted in catching countless unsubs together.
“Best: Reid or Hotch,” a fan wrote.
Other options mentioned for the best profiler include Hotch by himself, SSA David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) who becomes Unit Chief, along with Technical Analyst Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) and SSA Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore) and Reid together.
Who do fans believe is the worst profiler?
Fans also revealed their thoughts on who the worst profiler is. Jennifer Jareau or JJ (A.J. Cook) is named the most. She was the media liaison who turned profiler.
“Worst: JJ,” a fan said. “I don’t remember any time where she particularly shone.”
Another fan added, “Worst profiler- Probably JJ. I love her as a character but ehh not so much as a profiler.”
