Drake & Josh is a sitcom that aired on Nickelodeon from 2004 to 2007 over 56 episodes and four seasons. The show starred Drake Bell, playing Drake Parker, and Josh Peck, playing Josh Nichols, who become stepbrothers when Drake’s mom marries Josh’s dad. Drake is known as cool, charismatic, and popular, but he is also unobservant and doesn’t care much about school.

Josh, on the other hand, is clumsy, smart, and caring, and the two couldn’t appear more different on the surface. Throughout the series, Drake and Josh get into many silly arguments, come up with clever schemes, and overcome the challenges of being an everyday teenager. Drake and Josh also live with Drake’s sister, Megan, played by Miranda Cosgrove, who is cunning and manipulative, and she loves nothing more than messing with her brother and stepbrother.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Dan Schneider came up with the idea for the show after seeing Bell and Peck perform on The Amanda Show years earlier. Schneider took notice of the talent the pair had at quipping back-and-forth on and off camera, and he set out to create a show revolving around this talent. The show was immensely popular, and many millennials still enjoy watching it today.

What is The Premiere?

The Premiere is a fictional movie theater in Drake & Josh, and it’s where most of the scenes in the show take place outside of the school and Drake and Josh’s home. Josh ends up working at the movie theater for most of the series, and Drake spends a lot of time meeting girls, bothering Josh, and performing with his band.

The Premiere offers plenty of comedy for the show, as Josh’s boss Helen, portrayed by Yvette Nicole Brown, can be hostile to Josh, but unexplainably loves Drake. This is actually a major theme throughout the show- Drake glides through life easily and largely without hitches despite not working hard at anything but dating girls and playing guitar, and Josh often gets the raw end of the deal even though he always stays in line.

Another awesome feature of The Premiere is the hilarious fake movie titles displayed during cut scenes or in the background. Some are word plays or parodies classic movies, such as “The Six Cents” (The Sixth Sense), “Lost With the Breeze” (Gone with the Wind) and “Galaxy Wars” (Star Wars). The Premiere played a huge part in the success in the show, and many fans might be surprised to know that the parking lot of The Premiere was used in another hit Nickelodeon show.

According to Screen Rant, Victorious used The Premiere parking lot to house its outdoor cafeteria, the Asphalt Café. Victorious was also created by Dan Schneider, and it ran from 2010 to 2013. Victorious starred Victoria Justice, Leon Thomas III, and Ariana Grande as students attending a high school for the arts. Grande later joined Jennette McCurdy from iCarly on Sam & Cat.

Nickelodeon produced many enjoyable shows that featured tons of talented cast members in the early 2000s and 2010s, and these shows will always have a place in the hearts of fans all over the world.
