Dexter continues to attract new audiences, even though it’s been almost 10 years since the end of the Showtime series. Based on a thriller book series by Jeff Lindsay, the show follows the life of a crime lab technician who also happens to be a serial killer. Dexter ran for eight seasons before its conclusion in 2013. But it remains a hit with viewers, with many bingeing it online and constantly looking up any and all news related to the show.

The series is now being rebooted, but there are still a few months to go until it airs. The good news, though, is that there are hidden episodes online that might tide fans over until the premiere of the Dexter revival.

How to watch the ‘Dexter’ webisodes

Back when Dexter was still in the middle of its run, Backstage reported that Showtime would be developing an animated prequel series based on its main character.

Called “Early Cuts,” the show focuses on a young Dexter Morgan as he morphed into a vigilante killer. The episodes, which first began airing in 2009, shed insight into things like his earliest victims and the creation of Dexter’s blood slide box. You can find them on YouTube and the Showtime website now.

A ‘Dexter’ revival is in the works

In October 2020, following years of fan interest, Showtime announced that it was bringing back the hit series. The show ended with Dexter sending himself off to Oregon and becoming a lumberjack, but it’s not picking up from that point. “Set 10 years after Dexter Morgan went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura, the revival sees the character now living under an assumed name in a world away from Miami,” reads the official logline.

It has since been revealed that Dexter is living in the fictional Iron Lake, New York, as Jim Lindsay, a salesperson at the local shop Fred’s Fish & Game. At some point, he’ll meet a man named Kurt Caldwell, who becomes his enemy.

Caldwell, according to his character description, “realized the American dream by going from driving big rigs, just like his father did, to now owning several trucks and the local truck stop. Powerful, generous, loved by everyone — he’s a true man of the people. If he’s got your back, consider yourself blessed. But should you cross Kurt, or hurt anyone that he cares for, God help you.”
