‘Dexter: New Blood’ Kidnapping Victim Has Already Appeared on the Show

Iron Lake police have big problems on their hands. Not only are their challenges in obtaining leads on Matt Caldwell, but there are also a string of missing women in the area. Someone else was kidnapped in 'Dexter: New Blood' Episode 2, but you've seen her before that.

Crime has rattled the community in ‘Dexter: New Blood’

Dexter: New Blood, a revival of the 2006 Showtime series Dexter, kicked off on Sunday, Nov. 7. Set eight years after what happened in the Dexter series finale, the show finds the titular character living a completely different life in a “world away from Miami.” After faking his death and fleeing to the woods, he adopted the name Jim Lindsay and got a job working at a hunting store in Iron Lake, a small town in Upstate New York.

He hasn’t killed at all, but he struggles to control his murderous urges after learning local bad boy Matt Caldwell was responsible for a deadly boating accident and got away with it. He winds up killing Matt after he crosses a line and shoots a deer Dexter had befriended, sending shockwaves through the tight-knit community. His death comes as police look to investigate the disappearances of a string of women in the area.

In the same episode, Dexter visits a bar with his girlfriend Angela Bishop. Angela overhears a hitchhiker struggling to pay for her food and treats her to a meal. Later, the same girl goes missing, but it’s unclear how.

In Dexter: New Blood Episode 2, she wakes up in a room by herself and spends the day enjoying complimentary snacks and drinks. Later, when she goes to open the door, she finds there’s no way out and that she’s being watched from a camera above. Written near the camera are the words, “You’re already dead.”

What to expect next on the show

The Dexter: New Blood Episode 3 trailer reveals the woman eventually breaks away from her captor. She runs off into the woods, but a masked gunman points his rifle right at her, preparing to shoot.

While their identity has not yet been revealed, fans have made plenty of guesses about who they are. One of the names to come up is Matt’s father, Kurt Caldwell, the “unofficial mayor” of Iron Lake.

As CBR notes, he did take a while to respond to Matt’s disappearance, and “he certainly would have the pull to make such a homicidal hobby possible.” But at the same time, people such as oil tycoon Edward Olsen and officer Teddy Reed have come up as possible suspects too.

Keep tuning in to Dexter: New Blood to see what happens. The show airs at 9 p.m. ET on Sundays on Showtime.
