Dexter Morgan isn’t just facing a threat in Kurt Caldwell but also in Molly Park. Played by Jamie Chung, Molly is a famous true-crime podcaster from California with a massive following of sleuths seeking to solve the cases featured on her show. She’s in town by coincidence, but she’s very much still a threat to Dexter. Here’s one thing that Chung says fans need to look out for in Dexter: New Blood when it comes to her character.

Molly shows up in ‘Dexter: New Blood’ at the worst time

A revival of the 2006 show Dexter, Dexter: New Blood picks up on his life eight years after faking his death and fleeing Miami. He’s since relocated to the fictional small town of Iron Lake, New York, where he lives under the name Jim Lindsay and works as a clerk. He’s tried hard to escape his past, but it comes back to haunt him when his son, Harrison Morgan, resurfaces.

Reminded of the person he was, Dexter slips and kills Matt Caldwell, not realizing he’s the son of Kurt Caldwell, one of the most powerful men in Iron Lake. “He’s a true man of the people,” his character description reads. “If he’s got your back, consider yourself blessed. But should you cross Kurt, or hurt anyone that he cares for, God help you.”

The search for Matt begins as Molly touches down to investigate a string of missing women in the area. Hoping to learn more about her, Harrison visits her website and finds a program on the Trinity Killer. The language she uses to discuss the case infuriates him and seemingly causes him to lash out at Ethan.

Chung on her character Molly in ‘Dexter: New Blood’

After the latest episode, Chung was featured on the Dexter: New Blood Wrap-Up podcast, where she spoke more about her character.

Asked by the interviewer, executive producer Scott Reynolds, for clues of what’s coming, Chung encouraged them to just pay attention. “I would pay attention to the podcasts recordings that are played on the show,” she said around the 12:30 mark. “There’s some good Easter-eggy stuff that’s happening inside that thing,” Reynolds added.

They didn’t give anything away, but they appear to be hinting at Molly’s knowledge of things like the Bay Harbor Butcher case and Dexter’s brother Brian Moser. The full recording of the Trinity podcast revealed such, showing the danger Molly poses to Dexter’s current life.

For now, though, Molly is dedicating most of her time to look into Iron Lake’s missing women. After connecting with police chief Angela Bishop in the latest episode, she forms an alliance with her and begins to compare notes hoping for a break in the case. The two will travel to New York City together in the next episode before returning “wondering about a well-respected member of the community,” according to the synopsis.
