After weeks of speculation and discussion, Dexter: New Blood fans have finally learned the identity of the other killer in Iron Lake. Exactly why and what he does with his victims is still a mystery. But there are plenty of guesses about it online. This Dexter: New Blood theory says he’s putting them in a spot that Dexter Morgan accidentally stumbled across earlier in the show.

So who’s the other killer in ‘Dexter: New Blood’?

Guesses about the identity of the Iron Lake serial killer ranged from Edward Olsen to even Harrison Morgan. But it ultimately turned out to be our number one guess behind that ski mask: truck stop owner Kurt Caldwell. Kurt lures transients and runaways to his cabin by offering food and shelter before trapping and killing them. He seems to follow a code like Dexter, but the reason behind his kills is still unclear.

Fan ideas about Kurt Caldwell

In addition to his motive, fans are also trying to figure out Kurt’s drop spot. One big theory is that he’s keeping his victims as trophies, hiding them in the cave Dexter came across while looking for a place to stash Matt Caldwell.

“He’s going to have some creepy shrine/preserved body situation for sure,” one fan said on Reddit.

“That’s my theory too. He’s making taxidermy hunting trophies out of his victims,” said another.

“Kurt def has a trophy place in the caves with the embalmed bodies,” read a third comment.

Many believe that’s why he was so angry after shooting his latest victim at point-blank range — with that much damage done to her body, he wouldn’t be able to fix it and preserve it the way he wanted.

Who knows, but the Dexter: New Blood Episode 6 trailer does appear to show Angela Bishop inside the cave with a stunned look on her face. Could it be that she’s discovered those bodies?

Watch ‘Dexter: New Blood’ on Sundays

The next episode of Dexter: New Blood will also deal with the aftermath of Angela discovering Dexter’s true identity. The trailer shows her confronting him, but viewers will, of course, have to wait to see his reaction.

The synopsis also says Dexter will “realize that he might not be the only serial killer in town,” moving another step toward the conflict we know is coming.

After that, there will be just four episodes left until the finale. The show has been billed as a limited series, but the cast and crew hasn’t ruled out the possibility of more episodes beyond the current 10.

“I’m reluctant to say ‘definitely’, you know?” Hall said when NME asked if this season would “definitely” be the end to Dexter’s story. “Let’s see. What’s plain now is that there’s 10 new episodes.

Fans can watch Dexter: New Blood at 9 p.m. ET on Sundays on Showtime.
