The premiere date of Dexter: New Blood is approaching, and fans are gathering all the information they can about the revival. Season 4 of Dexter introduced a villain who would become a fan favorite – the Trinity Killer played by John Lithgow. Dexter was able to finally kill Trinity, but not before Trinity got to Dexter’s wife Rita. Although Trinity met his end in Dexter, the official Instagram account for Dexter: New Blood shows Dexter with a razor that belonged to Trinity. This has led fans to speculated that perhaps Dexter got the razor from the Trinity Killer’s son.

Brando Eaton played the Trinity Killer’s son Jonah in ‘Dexter’

Season 4 of Dexter introduced one of the most complex and terrifying villains. Arthur Mitchell, aka the Trinity Killer, carried out a pattern of murder for years before Dexter meets him. Arthur’s M.O. consists of a repetitive cycle of killing. First, he buries a young boy alive.

Then he kills a young woman by slicing her femoral artery in the bathtub. Next, he forces a mother of two to jump to her death. Finally, he bludgeons to death a father of two. These murders are done to represent deaths and events from his own childhood.

Dexter begins to hunt Arthur in season 4 and discovers that he has a wife, son, and daughter. From the outside, Arthur seems like a devoted father. However, Arthur is extremely abusive toward his wife and children. He even breaks his son Jonah’s finger on purpose on Thanksgiving.

Dexter is finally able to kill Arthur, and Jonah and his mother Sally, and sister Rebecca are put into the witness protection program. Sally constantly blames her children for Arthur’s disappearance, contributing to Rebecca committing suicide. Jonah then kills his mother in a rage. Dexter later confronts Jonah, who confesses the truth of what he did. Dexter lets Jonah live and tells him to forgive himself.

Did Dexter get Trinity’s razor from Jonah?

Recently, the official Instagram page for Showtime’s Dexter posted an eery video of Dexter opening a straight-edged razor in the revival. Eagle-eyed fans noticed that the razor looks an awful lot like the one Trinity used to kill his victims in the bathtub. “Memories cut deeper than knives,” the captain reads.

This has led fans to wonder how Dexter was able to get his hands on the razor used by Arthur. One fan suggested on Reddit that Jonah could be the answer. “I guess on some level, it would make sense for Jonah to come back,” another fan mused. “After all, the theme of New Blood is “fathers and sons”. Thing is, I don’t think Jonah would become a killer in earnest. His only victim was his mother, and that was after she tortured his little sister.”

John Lithgow returns for ‘Dexter: New Blood’

Despite the death of his character, Lithgow is confirmed to return to at least two episodes of Dexter: New Blood, according to IMDb. Fans have their own speculation as to how The Trinity Killer will return.

“The Trinity Killer will appear in Harrison’s Flashback,” a fan suggested on Reddit. “Harrison has a flashback seeing how the Trinity Killer killed his mother like how Dexter had a flashback when Santos Jimenez killed his mother.” Another fan proposed that perhaps Dexter would begin to see visions of Trinity, similar to the visions he saw of his brother after killing him.

However, fans will have to wait and see what role Arthur will have in the revival and if his son Jonah will return.
