‘Dexter’: Yvonne Strahovski Shares Dark Theory About Harrison in Season 9
Dexter fans were thrilled when Showtime announced in October 2020 that it would be bringing back the show. Michael C. Hall (Dexter Morgan) is set to return to the series, which first premiered in 2006 and ran for eight seasons. But he’s so far the only original actor confirmed for the revival.
One big question fans have ahead of Dexter Season 9 is what happened to Dexter’s son Harrison. The last we heard, he had moved to Argentina with Dexter’s girlfriend Hannah McKay (Yvonne Strahovski) to have a better life. But Strahovski believes he still wound up becoming like his father.
What happened to Harrison in ‘Dexter’ exactly
As you may recall, Dexter was planning to move out of town with Harrison and Hannah in the series finale. He had them leave early and was supposed to meet up with them later. But he ultimately decided not to go. Instead, Dexter took his boat out to sea, faked his death, and moved to Oregon to start over.
The revival will continue that story, but not exactly from where it left off. “Set 10 years after Dexter Morgan went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura, the revival sees the character now living under an assumed name in a world away from Miami,” the logline for the show reads, according to Entertainment Tonight.
It turns out that Dexter is living in the remote Iron Lake, New York, under the alias Jim Lindsay. Jim is a sales associate at the shop Fred’s Fish & Game, but based on the teaser trailers, it seems it’s only a matter of time before his old self re-emerges. “There really is nothing like getting back to nature,” Dexter narrates in a teaser clip of an ax sitting in a log. “My nature.”
Yvonne Strahovski shares a dark theory about Dexter’s son
As the reboot moves forward, there hasn’t been any official word on Harrison’s whereabouts and whether he’ll be featured in the Dexter revival. But Strahovski has thoughts on what he’s been up to.
She was on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to discuss the fourth season of The Handmaid’s Tale when she was asked about Dexter, on which she starred for the final two seasons.
Many fans believed she would be involved in Dexter Season 9 due to the final storylines, but Strahovski claimed she hasn’t been asked back. She added, “I have a theory that perhaps, um, perhaps uh Harrison has already murdered her and is following in the footsteps of his father. But I don’t know. I don’t know anything.”
It might be wild to think about, but it’s not a new theory. Back around the time when the revival was announced, there was a theory on Reddit that the show would focus on Harrison as he’s either “hunting or hunted by Dexter.” However, some readers argued that Harrison would be too young, as he’s barely a teenager.
Hopefully, we’ll get to learn more about him in the revival, but who knows. Fans will be able to check it out when the show returns in the fall of 2021.
