Beyoncé is one of the world’s most beloved artists, a woman who has conquered both the film and music industries. Beyoncé, along with her husband, rapper Jay-Z, has built a hugely lucrative empire.

To this day, Beyoncé continues to surprise and delight fans with her creativity and invention. Still, Beyoncé has been the subject of many rumors over the years, some of them much more salacious than others. One, in particular, that circulated in 2016, still has fans around the world talking.

Beyoncé was born in Houston in 1981, raised by Mathew Knowles and Tina Knowles. As a young child, she showed a great deal of talent for singing and dancing, and by the time she was a teenager, she was performing at festivals and competitions.

In the late ’90s, Beyoncé became a star when her girl group, Destiny’s Child, started topping the charts around the world. Fans became obsessed with her beauty, style, and self-confidence, and she quickly became a feminist icon.

By the early 2000s, Beyoncé had established a reputation as a solo artist, releasing songs like “Beautiful Liar” and “If I Were a Boy.” She has also appeared in a number of hit movies, including Dreamgirls, The Pink Panther, and Obsessed.

As a star who has crafted a very specific public image, Beyoncé keeps her private life well away from the spotlight and raises her three young children in relative secrecy, which only feeds into the public’s obsession with her. It is that obsession that has caused a number of rumors to circulate over the years.

Sia is a quirky artist

An Australian singer and songwriter who was born in 1975, Sia has been in the music industry for decades. She first achieved notoriety in the early 2000s as an artist who collaborated with stars like David Guetta.

Still, it wasn’t until 2014 that Sia really started getting noticed, with her hit song “Chandelier.” Sia developed a reputation for eccentricity, mainly due to her habit of wearing wigs that completely covered her face.

Sia has always reportedly been uncomfortable with the spotlight, and although she has continued to work in the music business since making it big, she has always done so on her own terms. On the surface, Sia and Beyoncé could not possibly be more different.

However, in 2016, both superstar women were involved in one of the entertainment industry’s more bizarre and outlandish rumors.

In 2016, there was a conspiracy theory that started in Brazil, claiming that Beyoncé kidnapped Sia and held her captive in her basement, forcing the artist to write songs for her. As proof, fans pointed to an interview that Sia did in 2015, where she stated that working with Knowles on an album was “like a writing camp,” due to how involved and invested Knowles got in the process.

Proponents of the theory jumped all over her comments and even got the hashtag #SaveSia trending on social media. The rumor persisted for months, with fans talking on social media about how Sia might be revealing clues about her captivity in her songs. Fans even tagged Knowles in tweets, imploring the artist to “let Sia go.”

Needless to say, Knowles never responded to this wild rumor, and since Sia has been spotted in public on multiple occasions, it is clear that she is not trapped in anyone’s basement.
