DC Fandome gave comic book movie fans a taste of all the DC movies they’re waiting for. Wonder Woman 1984 and The Batman were delayed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and Dwayne Johnson hasn’t even begun filming Black Adam yet. However, that didn’t stop Johnson from hosting a panel on his upcoming supervillain/antihero movie.

Johnson answered fan questions at DC Fandome on Aug. 22. One of the fans asked Johnson about the other DC Comics heroes in the roster. So, Johnson laid out a plan to cross over with Wonder Woman herself.

Dwayne Johnson is Black Adam

Black Adam is a character in the Shazam! universe. He was an Egyptian slave given superpowers by magic. Of course, he uses them for slightly different purposes than Billy Batson.

“The most powerful superheroes, antiheroes, villains, whatever you want to call Black Adam, he is one of the most powerful in the DC Universe,” Johnson said. “But, as we all know, the superheroes, they have to exhibit a little bit of restraint when it comes to taking care of the bad guys, if you will, or taking care of the people who are opposite them, who are opposing them, who are in their way.”

Johnson always liked Black Adam’s somewhat anarchic approach to super powers. That’s why he’s been attached to play him for over 10 years.

“This idea that you  could take all of Black Adam’s powers and he does not practice restraint, that makes for a really powerful combination and one that’s explosive, one that’s very dangerous and one that is ultimately, I think, very likeable, to me at least,” Johnson said.

Dwayne Johnson wants a Black Adam/Wonder Woman team up

Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) has already played with other heroes in Batman v Superman and Justice League. Now that he’s joined the party, Johnson thinks she’d make a good tag team with Black Adam.

“My number one choice on who I would love to take with me on an adventure would be Wonder Woman and I’ll tell you why,” Johnson said. “No, I know what you guys are thinking, oh, of course you would, Rock. Gal is my friend. She’s a very good friend of mine but the character of Wonder Woman is one that I have such a tremendous amount of respect for.”

Johnson and Gadot are making a movie together, Red Notice, but Johnson would like them to play their DC Comics characters together too. Maybe in Black Adam 2.

“I always thought that this combination of Wonder Woman and Black Adam would make an incredible pairing,” Johnson said. “So this idea that we would go on an adventure together is something very cool.”

Black Adam could also face off against this other DC legend

Johnson described Black Adam as Superman without Clark Kent’s moral compass. He has similar powers but no compunction about using them for his own personal whims.

“The other part to this answer is I always thought that it might be cool to hang out with Superman,” Johnson said. “That would be cool, right? We’re kind of similar in terms of our powers, our strengths, our speeds. Look, at the end of teh day, you never know, Black Adam and Superman could become friends. Or, they won’t. Who knows? Maybe we’ll see.”
