Christmas came early for Disney+ subscribers. Fans learned that Tim Allen would return as Scott Calvin for a The Santa Clause limited series. However, Disney only shared the announcement on the Disney+ Instagram account for a few hours before the post was deleted.

Sure, Scott Calvin believed in Santa Claus. When the real Santa Claus fell off this character’s roof, though, even he had a hard time believing in the magic. Fans first met Scott Calvin with Disney’s original holiday film, The Santa Clause. Now, Allen will reprise his role for a Disney+ exclusive “limited series.”

“It’s clause for celebration! Tim Allen will reprise his role as Scott Calvin from The Santa Clause in a new Original limited series coming soon to #DisneyPlus,” the streaming platform wrote on Twitter.

This would not be the first time Allen worked with the Walt Disney Company. Aside from his starring role in the Christmas franchise, the actor appeared as the voice of Buzz Lightyear in the Disney-Pixar classic Toy Story.

The Disney+ ‘The Santa Clause’ announcement was removed from Instagram for ‘false information’

This announcement came in January 2021. A picture of Allen as his Santa Claus counterpart was posted to the Disney+ Instagram account in celebration. It was deleted shortly after.

Once the Christmas-theme picture was posted to the Disney+ account, viewers saw an obscured version of the post with a message saying “false information: the same information was reviewed by independent fact-checkers in another post.”

Upon revealing the explanation, Instagram users learned an older, conservative rant that went viral was previously misattributed to actor Allen. Even when sharing the Disney+ post to other users, a message from Instagram appeared regarding false information.

A similar post remains on the official Disney Instagram account, as does a tweet on the Disney+ official Twitter account. Allen himself has not commented on the news, although fans expect more information and holiday cheer in the coming months.

Disney’s ‘The Santa Clause’ spinoff titled ‘The Santa Clause: The Escape Clause’ premiered in 2006

Allen reprised his role as Scott Calvin for several Santa Clause-related projects. That includes the 2006 release The Santa Clause: The Escape Clause starring Martin Short as the always bitter, sometimes musical Jack Frost.

This wouldn’t be the first holiday-themed original created by the streaming platform. At Disney+’s launch, the company unveiled the original story of Noelle, starring Anna Kendrick. Home Sweet Home Alone, a spinoff of the 1990s classic Home Alone, debuted exclusively on Disney’s subscription service.

More information regarding this limited series, including its premiere date, will presumably be announced in the coming months. Until then, The Santa Clause and its spinoffs are currently available on Disney+.
