It’s no secret that Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch are two of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One used to be the Sorcerer Supreme, and another is a legend who wields chaos magic. Now, the two superheroes are coming together in Doctor Strange 2, and fans will finally find out if Doctor Strange or Scarlet Witch is the strongest.

Marvel fans constantly debate over who is the strongest Avenger

Ever since the Avengers first teamed up in The Avengers in 2012, fans have argued over which superhero was the most powerful. Flash-forward twelve years and the MCU is bigger than anyone could have ever imagined, and it contains numerous powerful beings. And the debate over who is the strongest Avenger has only grown more intense.

Among the candidates for the strongest Avenger are two of the stars of Doctor Strange 2 — Dr. Stephen Strange and Scarlet Witch. Many fans also add Captain Marvel, Thor, Vision, and the Hulk into the running.

Every fan has their favorite MCU superhero, just like they have an opinion about which one is the most powerful. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to definitively say which Avenger is the strongest unless Marvel drops them in an arena and they duke it out like Celebrity Deathmatch. But it sounds like fans might get some answers in the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel.

‘Doctor Strange 2’ will prove who is stronger between Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch

Doctor Strange 2 producer Richie Palmer spoke with Empire in their latest issue about Scarlet Witch. He also addressed the debate over who is more powerful — Stephen or Wanda?

“I don’t know who’s more powerful than Wanda,” the producer shared. “Meeting the Wanda Maximoff at the end of Endgame would have been a lot for Strange. Who comes out on top as the most powerful being in the universe? Maybe we find out at the end of the movie.”

As fans saw in WandaVision, Wanda leveled up following Avengers: Endgame. Sure, she almost single-handedly defeated Thanos in the fourth Avengers film, but the Disney+ series brought her powers to another level. Wanda discovered her origin as the Scarlet Witch, and she got her hands on the Darkhold, which will tie into Doctor Strange 2.

While speaking with Empire, Richie Palmer further teased Scarlet Witch’s character arc in Doctor Strange 2.

“Madness has many different definitions,” he stated. “It’s maddening for Doctor Strange to have to watch the love of his life marry someone else. And it’s maddening for Wanda to have been told, ‘There’s a book, and there’s a chapter about you in that book you should read, and secrets you don’t know about yourself.'”

And Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Scarlet Witch, was just enthusiastic about working with Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Doctor Strange. She told Empire, “I really was excited to do dialogue with him. I really enjoyed our constant conversation of analysis and trying to understand where both characters are coming from.”

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness premieres exclusively in theaters on May 6.
