Marissa Lucchese’s bad breakup pushed her to audition for ‘Double Shot at Love’

Lucchese is a makeup artist, but she always felt like she should be on television. “I’ve always wanted to be on some sort of reality TV,” Lucchese explained on The Moral Hangover podcast. “Whether it was acting, in movies, commercials, [or] the reality end.”

Lucchese never thought about actually trying to become a reality star until she went through a tough breakup. “I had to get a restraining order,” she admitted on the podcast. “I kind of was like, ‘I’m in such a dark place right now, and I want to make a change, step out of my comfort zone, put myself out there, and see what happens.'”

So, Lucchese combed through the shows that were casting on MTV.com. After filling out a questionnaire, she got a call the next day from producers.

Marissa Lucchese didn’t expect to fall for anyone in season 2

Lucchese went into season 1 of Double Shot at Love blindly. When MTV was casting for the show, they weren’t telling anyone which reality star they would be dating.

“They called me one day and said, ‘We’re doing this bachelor show,'” Lucchese said during the podcast. “They didn’t really say what it was for season 1 of Double Shot. We didn’t even know it was going to be two [reality stars].”

Initially, Lucchese had her sights set on Pauly DelVecchio. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out romantically between them. After season 1, Lucchese remained friendly with DelVecchio and his buddy Vinny Guadagnino. That’s why she was invited back for season 2.

While the premise of season 2 was to live and work in Las Vegas, Lucchese ended up reverting to season 1’s vibes and falling for one of her roommates.

Marissa Lucchese experienced more heartbreak during season 2 of ‘Double Shot at Love’

Stakemann joined the cast for season 2 along with Antonio Locke and Nicky Curd. He ended up hitting it off with Lucchese, who agreed to go with the flow and casually hook up without catching feelings.

As the situation played out, Lucchese ended up falling for Stakemann. Despite being repeatedly hurt by his actions., Lucchese continued to hook up with him throughout the season. Now, fans are curious about where the two stand.

Are Marissa Lucchese and Brandon Stakemann friends?

As Lucchese explained on the podcast, co-star Derynn Paige had given her a heads up about the men who were joining the cast in season 2. “They were a little annoying at first,” Lucchese admitted. She continued:

Going in there, I [wasn’t] looking for anything; I’m just here to have fun. But then I always fall for the bad boy who gives you a run for your money and gives you a challenge and likes to play games and keeps you on your toes. That’s when I started to fall for Brandon.

Regardless of her feelings for Stakemann, Lucchese says each of the Double Shot at Love men is like a brother to her. “They torture me and get on my nerves [but] they always have my back, and I always have theirs,” she said. “The bonds and friendships I’ve created with them are so amazing. They’re just awesome, cool guys.”

When asked if Lucchese had spoken to Stakemann since the show wrapped, she had this to say: “I really can’t answer that. You guys will have to tune in for what’s to come. Stay tuned for that.”

UPDATE: As revealed during part 2 of the Double Shot at Love reunion, Stakemann and Lucchese continued to hook up briefly after they returned home from Las Vegas.

Their relationship was short-lived, though. Stakemann is back with his ex-girlfriend and Lucchese is also seeing someone. “He’s an amazing guy and he treats me like a princess,” Lucchese said during part 2 of the reunion. “We’ll see what happens. I’m taking things very slow.”
