The season began with some happy news for Karen and her husband Deon Derrico when she learned she was pregnant with their 15th child. But excitement soon turned to sadness when Karen had a miscarriage.
As Karen dealt with the complicated feelings that came with the loss of her pregnancy, she and Deon also contemplated making a major change. Karen wanted to move from Nevada to her home state of South Carolina, where they would be closer to her family. Deon was open to the plan and the couple seeemed to settle on spending part of the year in Las Vegas and part of the year in South Carolina.
Then, they got some devastating news. Deon’s mother GG’s lung cancer had returned. Her health crisis put all plans for a move on hold. The season ended with GG beginning treatment for her illness.
Karen Derrico is praying TLC greenlights ‘Doubling Down With the Derricos’ Season 4
Though the last episode of Doubling Down With the Derricos aired on May 10, fans have been clamoring for updates. Karen recently hopped on Instagram to answer questions from viewers, including about whether the family’s reality show would return for season 4, and perhaps beyond.
“We’re praying for all those seasons,” Karen said. “So you keep praying and we’ll keep you posted.”
Later, she clarified that the family was waiting for news about the future of their reality show. But she made it clear the family was interested in returning to TV.
“I don’t know when the next season is,” she said. “We’re still waiting. We’re excited though, we’re staying prayerful.”
GG’s cancer treatment is going well, Karen said
Karen also shared an update on GG’s health, and fortunately, the news was mostly positive.
“GG is doing amazing,” she said. “She has her up and down days.”
The doting grandma’s doctors recently started her on a different type of chemo that had fewer side effects, Karen shared. She went on to request that everyone “keep sending in your prayers” for her mother-in-law’s return to good health.
