Is Dove Cameron in ‘Riverdale’?
Some know her as Mal from Descendants, others know her as Liv and Maddie from the Disney Channel series of the same name. Now, Dove Cameron is open to working on a very different television series — the CW drama, Riverdale.
Here’s what this actor said about potentially making an appearance on the series alongside Cole Sprouse.
Dove Cameron is best known for her work with Disney Channel
She’s a stage actor and an alumni of Disney’s television network, Disney Channel. Cameron starred in the original comedy series, Liv and Maddie, as both main characters.
As her superstar persona, Liv, she starred on Sing It Loud. As Maddie, she was the star of the basketball team and somewhat of a nerd. Cameron later portrayed Mal, the daughter of Maleficent and Hades, in the original movie, Descendants.
She returned for several sequels alongside Cameron Boyce, Sofia Carson, and Booboo Stewart. With the 2019 release, Descendants 3, the actor has presumably ended her run with the television network.
Dove Cameron is open to being in the CW’s drama series
Although she started off at Disney Channel, this actor said she’s open to a cameo on Riverdale. She has yet to make an appearance but, reportedly, was filming Descendants 2 close to where the other actors were working.
“I love Riverdale. I know the cast. They were shooting that actually as we were shooting Descendants 2… They were in the same hotel, so we would always like see them at the gym,” Cameron said during an interview with Shine On Media.
“Yeah, I’d definitely be open to it,” she said of potentially joining the cast. “I love the character, Sabrina, obviously. I was a huge fan of the original Archie Comics, that was like all I read when I was little, so yeah, I’d be open to it. I don’t want to let down any fans or anything like that, but if they wanted me, I would go.”
With Descendants releasing their final movie on Disney Channel and Disney+, Cameron has since branched out to work on original music. Her 2020 release, “We Belong,” earned over 25 million plays on the streaming platform, Spotify.
There’s another actor from this series who had his start on Disney Channel
One of the main characters in this series, Jughead, is portrayed by Cole Sprouse, an actor known for his appearance in the Disney Channel original series, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and its spinoff, Suite Life on Deck.
Other recurring cast members in Riverdale include Madelaine Petsch (Cheryl Blossom,) Camila Mendes (Veronica Lodge,) and KJ Apa (Archie Andrews.) These friends are set to appear in the fifth season of this drama series.
Some episodes of the original drama series, Riverdale, are available for streaming on Netflix. Others premiere on the television network, CW.
