We’ve been keeping up with the Duggars for years, and it’s Jessa Duggar who’s getting a ton of attention now. Jessa is married to her husband, Ben Seewald, and together, they have three kids. We’ve been keeping up with Jessa ever since she lived under Jim Bob and Michelle’s roof — but now that she has her own social media platform and YouTube channel, it’s easier than ever to see what her parenting tactics, marriage, and home life are like.

The Duggars believe in having as many children as God allows, and Jessa certainly loves all of her kids. But her critics suspect she didn’t put too much time and effort into preparing her home for her daughter, Ivy. Here’s what they’re saying and why.

Jessa Duggar has three children with husband Ben Seewald

We’ve heard a ton about Sturgeon over the years, and fans also find Jessa and Ben’s middle child, Henry, to be absolutely adorable. But it’s Ivy who’s making hearts melt. The little girl looks exactly like Jessa, and she’s often featured in Jessa’s arms during the Seewald family’s YouTube videos.

“When you’re adding a new baby into the family, it can feel like a huge transition in a lot of ways,” Jessa told TLC. And Jessa also commented on the “transitional phase” that Spurgeon and Henry had to go through when baby Ivy came along.

“Something that I’ve learned from my mom is to talk about it beforehand,” Jessa added in the video. And she noted that she told her sons all about Ivy before the baby’s arrival, which got them excited for having a baby sister. And Jessa added that going from taking care of two kids to caring for three was difficult in many ways. “We’ve adjusted to the new normal and things are getting easier,” she added.

Jessa showed off her home via a house tour in February 2020

Not only does Jessa often show what she’s up to with her kids, but she also shows her fans her home. And she’s quite open with her expectations regarding how tidy it should be on a regular basis.

“This is our messy house,” Jessa announced at the beginning of the house tour video she created in February 2020. “We’ll do another house tour when it’s cleaned up. But first, we’re gonna do a real life messy house.”

From there, Jessa goes over the clothing that’s strewn about, her Christmas tree that’s still up, and the toilet that Spurgeon clogged. Jessa explained that Spurgeon put an entire roll of toilet paper into the bowl, resulting in a serious issue.

After showing off the mess, Jessa went back through and showed off her home after some clean-up efforts were in place. And it looked a lot more manageable after that.

Critics think she put little effort into preparing her home for Ivy

Reddit users are still talking about Jessa and Ben’s house tour. And they believe the couple made little effort to improve their home in preparation for the arrival of their daughter.

“I’m just realizing that Jessa made absolutely zero effort adding Ivy to the household beyond emptying half a drawer in their changing table,” the original Reddit user posted to the board. “I have three young kids, so I understand not having the time and energy to make a big fuss. But for our third baby I at least set up the crib, bought some new sheets and blankets and added some simple decorations.”

“Yes, Jessa may have been excited to have ivy but not excited enough to put in any effort,” another agreed. “It’s weird that she didn’t set up the second bedroom as a nursery when she had her first.”

“I think unless Jessa gets pregnant soon, they won’t get a new house until Ivy is ready to move out of Jessa & Ben’s room,” yet another wrote.

We’ll have to wait and see what Jessa and Ben’s strategy for their home is going forward — and we’re sure they’ll be candid with the info!
