Duggar Family Rumors Suggest Cameraman Had to Leave ’19 Kids & Counting’ Due to Jana Duggar
Jana Duggar is currently in the Duggar family spotlight, as fans and critics suspect she’s courting. And this is far from the first time courtship rumors have swirled around the oldest Duggar daughter. Years prior, rumors suggested Jana had a little too much chemistry with one of the young cameramen filming for TLC. Here’s what allegedly occurred.
Duggar family critics claim a TLC cameraman had chemistry with Jana
While many of Jim Bob and Michelle’s kids have gone through courtships and gotten married at a young age, Jana, who’s currently 31 years old, remains single. She lives in the large Duggar family home, as the kids only leave once they’ve wed. And Jana’s remained notoriously private about her love life over the years, though evidence suggests she’s gone through quite a few courtships.
It seems there were some rumors surrounding Jana and TLC cameraman Frank Sun, though. Reddit notes the rumors suggested Jana and Frank had a ton of chemistry on set, and he even posted a photo of Jana to his personal Tumblr account. The rumors also suggested Frank was asked to leave the filming crew due to his romantic connection with Jana.
It seems fans and critics alike were in favor of Jana and Frank getting together, too.
“I’d LOVE to see Jana breaking Duggar and running off with this guy!” a Reddit user commented.
The Duggars’ courtship rules would never allow Jana and Frank to date
Unfortunately, even if Jana and Frank had a wonderful connection, their relationship likely wouldn’t fly with Jim Bob and Michelle. The Duggar family courtship rules require all potential suitors to get approval from Jim Bob. And Jim Bob would likely only allow other Christians to date his kids. We’re not sure what religion Frank follows (if any), but it doesn’t sound like he was a strict Christian fundamentalist.
“If a man pursuing a girl’s heart, definitely the guy needs to talk to the girl’s father,” Jessa Duggar once explained. “So for us, guys would approach our dad and talk to him about that, kind of make their interest known.”
Additionally, during courtship, the courting pair must attend all dates with a chaperone, and they can’t hold hands, hug, or kiss. The typical courtship only lasts a few months before the wedding.

While Duggar family fans would love to see Jana and Frank get together after all these years, she’s causing a stir with her current rumored courtship to Stephen Wissmann. Jana was allegedly spotted hanging out with the Wissmanns around Christmas in 2020, and she’s been seen with Stephen multiple times ever since. Now, fans are anxiously awaiting an official courtship announcement.
Aside from Jana, rumors also suggest Jeremiah Duggar is dating Stephen’s younger sister, Hannah Wissmann. We’ll have to wait and see what the Duggars ultimately announce in the near future.
