Timothée Chalamet is jumping from one star-studded movie project to another these days. The actor is on the verge of a major release, with Dune hitting theaters in a week on October 22. Additionally, HBO Max streams it starting October 21, 2021. He’ll also appear alongside prominent actors in a Netflix movie called Don’t Look Up. Here’s what we know about Chalamet’s upcoming film.

If there’s one thing we know about Timothée Chalamet, it’s that he’s very, very busy. Before Dune even hits theaters, and while promoting the sci-fi epic’s release, photographers snapped him on the England set of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory prequel Wonka.

Moreover, his current projects have powerful casts. Dune’s roster includes Jason Momoa, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, and Stellan Skarsgård.

The film is the tip of the iceberg for the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s series of novels. Director Denis Villeneuve claims a sequel could begin filming “quickly,” catapulting Chalamet into yet another major project.

Wonka features Chalamet alongside Keegan Michael Key and Oscar winner Oliva Coleman. The prequel to Roald Dahl’s classic cautionary tale is about Willy Wonka before he becomes the candy-making genius.

According to an article in Town & Country, Warner Bros describes it as “an exploration of the vivid, mythical beginnings of the imaginative young inventor before he becomes the renowned scrumdiddlyumptious Mozart of chocolate.” Paul King of the Paddington movies is director.

Amid it all is an actor who goes after what he wants. Chalamet told Deadline in September 2021 that he set up a Google alert to follow pre-production on Dune and lobby for the lead role of Paul Atreides.

“Not right away—Legendary had the rights and was developing it—but as soon as Denis got involved, I set up a Google alert, and that’s when I got the book,” he told Deadline.

Timothée Chalamet next appears in a Netflix dark comedy called Don’t Look Up. The cast is an unbelievable lineup of actors.  He’ll star alongside the almighty Meryl Streep (The Devil Wears Prada, 2006), Leonardo DiCaprio (The Wolf of Wall Street, 2013), and Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook, 2012). Additionally, Jonah Hill (This Is The End, 2013), Ariana Grande, Ron Perlman, and Tyler Perry are in the cast. Finally, Cate Blanchett (The Lord of the Rings), Chris Evans (Avengers: Endgame, 2019), and Gina Gershon (Face/Off, 1997) appear with Chalamet, among others.

According to Wikipedia, the plot of Don’t Look Up has “low-level astronomers” on an epic media tour to warn the world about a giant comet inevitably headed toward earth. The movie gets a limited theatrical release on December 10, 2021. Netflix will stream it starting December 24.
