Ralph Macchio warned Martin Kove of ‘feeling exhausted’ from ‘DWTS’

Playing villainous karate master John Kreese on Cobra Kai, Kove has proven he is in excellent shape. His cast mate Macchio, who appeared on DWTS in 2011, gave Kove a heads-up on the challenges to expect in the competition.

“Ralph told me how grueling being on the show is,” Kove remarked, according to TV Insider. “He said that it’s very physically demanding, but that I’ll have a good time and the people here will treat me well.”

The Karate Kid star also noted the level of fatigue Kove may be in for from rigorous rehearsals and nonstop physical training. Still, the actor is looking forward to showing off some fancy footwork.

“Ralph also told me to be prepared for feeling exhausted,” Kove said. “I do believe that being on this show is emotionally lucrative as well as physically lucrative.”

‘Karate Kid’ star noted recalled 10-hour work days on ‘DWTS’

Macchio almost made it to the finals in season 12 of Dancing With the Stars with partner Karina Smirnoff, placing fourth for the show. In an interview from 2011, he shared his enthusiasm for the experience.

“I loved it,” Macchio told the Washington Post. “I ran there every Monday night because the audience and the crowd, even on the street, was such a huge groundswell of support from the moment we came out in the first episode. Fortunately, we were at the top of the pack coming out of the gate so I got a tremendous amount of press out of it. … It’s a great platform because the show wants everyone to do well. It’s a show based on supporting a positive outcome.”

The Cobra Kai actor tipped off Kove to the long work days required on DWTS that he previously spoke of shortly after his stint on the show.

“You’re working your butt off 10 hours a day, every day,” the My Cousin Vinny star commented. “No days off, virtually. And you’re putting it out there in this 90 seconds, because that’s all you can control. The rest of the show, you know, that machine is going to run its course.”
