‘Elite’: 1 Original Cast Member Won’t Return for Season 5
Elite is a Spanish drama series that follows the wealthy students at Las Encinas, a prestigious secondary school in Spain. The series became a global phenomenon, attracting more than 20 million households during its first four weeks on Netflix. Elite fans have witnessed the departure of original cast members in exchange for a plethora of new faces. Now, fans will have to say goodbye to another cast that won’t return for season 5.

Miguel Bernardeau won’t return for ‘Elite’ Season 5
Miguel Bernardeau is best known for playing Guzmán in Elite. Guzmán was the main character for all four seasons. At the end of season 4, he leaves Las Encinas to travel with his best friend Ander (Arón Piper).
The trip comes after Guzmán killed Armando, a businessman, with a firework gun. Samuel (Itzan Escamilla) and Rebe (Claudia Salas) help him cover up the murder, and it’s labeled as a “mysterious disappearance.” While the possibility of Guzmán returning for the next season appeared slim, it looks Elite fans will have to say goodbye to his character for good.
On Jul. 16, Bernardeau posted a video to the official Elite Twitter account, confirming his departure from the series. “Hey, this is Miguel Bernardeau, and for those who have already watched the finale of Elite season 4, I wanted to say goodbye and send you a big hug,” he said.
“I wanted to say thank you to all the Elite team, the production, the direction, to my castmates, those who are still here, those who aren’t,” he added. “I’ll always have you in my heart, and it’s been an immense pleasure working with you.”
Bernardeau ended the video by saying: Thank you to Netflix for giving us this opportunity, to the creators, and above all to Guzmán for teaching me that no matter where you are, it’s never too late to change. Goodbye.”
Will Ander return for season 5?
It’s unclear if Ander will return for season 5. The show ended with Ander breaking up with Omar (Omar Ayuso) before going with Guzmán. The actor who plays Ander, Piper, has not announced his official departure like his co-star. So could Ander come back for a future season? For now, it is a possibility, but his storyline remains uncertain.
Who will return for ‘Elite’ Season 5?
In February 2021, Elite was renewed for a fifth season before the fourth season premiered on Netflix. The storyline for season 5 remains under wraps, but new students will join the Las Encinas student body. Deadline reported Argentinian actor Valentina Zenere and Brazilian actor André Lamoglia would join the cast for the new season.
As far as the original cast, there might be a few characters that make an appearance in season 5. Judging by how the previous season ended, Samuel (Itzan Escamilla), Omar (Omar Shana), and Rebe (Claudia Salas) might be featured in the new storyline. But, it is still too early to confirm anything yet. In addition, there is no official release date for Elite season 5.
