While everyone’s familiar with the saga between Priscilla and Elvis Presley, it was Ginger Alden who found The King when he died. Alden and Presley were engaged prior to his death, and she’s talked and written extensively about her relationship.

During an old interview, Alden talked about Presley’s staff and their feelings toward working for the rock star. And she noted the staff would also “roll their eyes” when she had requests.

Alden was one of many of Presley’s romantic interests over the years, and they had plans to get married. Unfortunately, Presley died prior to tying the knot with Alden. And since then, Alden’s spoken out about her relationship with Presley and her time around Graceland and his staff.

While some liked Alden, it seems many others were suspicious of the couple’s relationship. Elvis Australia notes Alden and her sister, Rosemary, talked about one particular staffer who had it out for Alden post-Elvis’s death.

“A very jealous employee of Elvis’ started this whole sick and malicious tale after he was fired by Vernon Presley for suspecting him of taking photos, selling them to tabloids and even stealing some of Elvis’ items to sell,” Rosemary shared during the interview. “This individual definitely lost his meal ticket when Elvis died. He has been so jealous and harbored such ill feelings toward Ginger and our family because Elvis was planning on him being one of the very next ones to go.”

Rosemary then added that Presley “didn’t trust” the individual, either, as “he made some improper gestures toward Ginger.”

During a 1980 interview with Alden, she talked about some of the troubles Presley experienced with his staff.

“My personal feelings, I think there were a lot of people around Elvis who should never have been around him,” Alden said. “I don’t think they really enjoyed working for Elvis, because, when they were asked to do things — I know, for myself asking them to do things — they would roll their eyes, like, ‘Oh gee, I have to do this again.'”

Alden then continued on in the interview and explained many of the people who were around Presley “kept him away from reality,” as they were “afraid to say no to him.” This caused Presley to “lose touch” with what was really going on around him.

While Presley seemed to adore touring, he liked to stay as reclusive as possible when at home in Graceland. Alden once talked about how Presley didn’t like to leave his bedroom if he didn’t have to, as he never knew who he’d encounter below.

“When I did visit Graceland, we indeed stayed upstairs quite a bit,” Alden said during an interview. “I attribute it to the fact that there always seemed to be a flurry of activity going on downstairs. He would often ask me who was downstairs, which was usually an employee with a date or friends and he would say that he didn’t want to go down then.”

Priscilla has also discussed her ex-husband’s private ways of life. According to her, she knows Presley would never have social media if he was alive today, as that would put his life on display far more than he’d ever want.
