The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards takes place on Sunday, Sept. 19, and WandaVision‘s 23 Emmy nominations are receiving a lot of attention ahead of the ceremony. However, WandaVision wasn’t the only Marvel series up for honors this year. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier also received a handful of nominations, all of them in categories determined during the Creative Arts Emmys on Sept. 11-12. How many nominations did the Disney+ show receive, and how did it fare ahead of the main ceremony?

How many Emmy nominations did ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ receive?

Their bodies are turned away from the camera, but they're both looking back at it. Which episode of the Disney+ show is the best?

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier received five Emmy nominations in 2021. Combined with WandaVision‘s 23 nominations, the show helped Marvel reach 28 in total — an impressive number between the two Disney+ series.

While WandaVision dominated the Limited Series category, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier fell into the Drama classification. Per Marvel, these are the nominations the six-episode series received:

  • Guest Actor in a Drama Series (Don Cheadle)
  • Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour)
  • Special Visual Effects in a Season
  • Stunt Coordination
  • Stunt Performance

Most of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s Emmy nominations fall into categories decided during Creative Arts Emmys. The winners for those awards were announced during a two-day ceremony from Sept. 11-12. So, did the show take home any gold?

Did ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ take home any Creative Arts Emmys?

Sadly, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier didn’t take home any awards during the Creative Arts Emmys. Despite delivering an impressive final product, the Disney+ show found itself competing with several other worthy contenders.

The award for Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour) wound up going to HBO’s Lovecraft Country, which is also up for several awards during the main ceremony.

Meanwhile, the honors for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Season, Stunt Coordination, and Stunt Performance all went to The Mandalorian — a not-so-shocking development given season 2’s success.

Unfortunately, the Disney+ series didn’t fare much better with its “Guest” nomination either. Cheadle found himself up for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series after his appearance as James “Rhodey” Rhodes in the Falcon and the Winter Soldier series premiere. Given how brief his scene with Anthony Mackie was, it’s probably no surprise the trophy went to Courtney B. Vance for his guest role in Lovecraft Country instead.

Could the Disney+ show get another chance to take home the gold?

The Lowest-Rated ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ Episode Makes A Lot of Sense

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier may not have taken home any Emmy Awards in 2021, but hope isn’t completely lost. Although the show hasn’t been renewed for a second season, it doesn’t seem like another outing is off the table either. Mackie already signed on for a fourth Captain America movie. Plus, Sebastian Stan remains interested in playing Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

With those things in mind, it’s not totally impossible the Disney+ series could return at some point. Unlike WandaVision, the show wasn’t billed as a limited series. Perhaps that means it could make a comeback — and a few more Emmy bids.
