Fans Can Now Listen to a Sneak Peek of Taylor Swift’s ‘Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)’

Taylor Swift is currently in the process of re-recording her first six albums that were originally released by Big Machine Records. On March 12, Swift shared a small preview of her upcoming re-recorded song 'Wildest Dreams (Taylor's Version).'

In November 2020, Taylor Swift began the process of re-recording the albums she released under Big Machine Records. The singer-songwriter announced that Fearless (Taylor’s Version) will be released on April 9. While little is known about the future of her other re-records, it looks like 1989 might be the next album Swift will release.

On March 12, fans were given a sneak peek of “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)” in a trailer for the upcoming animated movie Spirit Untamed. Before announcing Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and releasing “Love Story (Taylor’s Version),” Swift gave fans a preview of the song in a commercial.

Spirit Untamed is an upcoming animated film by Dreamworks that stars Isabela Merced, Jake Gyllenhaal, Julianne Moore, Marsai Martin, Mckenna Grace, Walton Goggins, Andre Braugher, and Eiza González.

To alert fans that “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)” was featured in the trailer, Swift shared the trailer for Spirit Untamed on her Instagram story. The singer-songwriter also thanked the movie for including her upcoming song in the trailer.

On Facebook, Swift wrote, “Thank you #SpiritUntamed for using Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version) in your new trailer!!”

Only a tiny portion of “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)” can be heard, but from those few seconds, it seems Swift made the re-recorded version grander than the original.

The opening “Say you’ll remember me” at the start of the trailer sounds even more wistful and captures the bittersweet message of the song. Swift’s vocals sound more delicate while the song’s instrumentals pack a slightly heavier punch.

Taylor Swift originally released ‘Wildest Dreams’ in 2014

Swift released her album 1989 in 2014, and it marked her fifth studio album. 1989 went on to win Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2016 Grammy Awards.

The album includes 13 tracks, and it was supported by a number of singles throughout its promotion. “Wildest Dreams” was released as a single with a music video in August 2015.

Actor Scott Eastwood starred as Swift’s love interest in the music video, and the “Wildest Dreams” music video was directed by Joseph Kahn, who also directed Swift’s music videos for “Blank Space,” “Bad Blood,” “Out of the Woods,” “Look What You Made Me Do,” “Delicate,” “End Game,” and “… Ready For It?”

In the music video for “Wildest Dreams,” Swift and Eastwood play two actors, Marjorie Finn and Robert Kingsley, filming a movie in Africa in the 1950s. They begin an affair while on location, but as the music video progresses the relationship ends.

Why the singer-songwriter is re-recording her music

Swift is currently signed with Universal Music Group, but she began her career with Big Machine Records which was owned by Scott Borchetta. In June 2019, Scooter Braun purchased Big Machine Label Group from Borchetta.

In doing so, Braun acquired the masters to Swift’s first six albums. This led to Swift deciding to re-record those albums so she can legally own her music masters.

Fearless was Swift’s second studio album and was released in 2008. It will be the first of Swift’s re-recorded albums to be released.
