‘Fear Street’ books by R.L. Stine inspire the Netflix trilogy

Based on the books by R.L. Stine, Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy explores the bloody history of a town called Shadyside. Each movie takes place in a different time: 1994, 1978, and finally 1666 — the year the presumed witch Sarah Fier cursed the land on which Shadyside sits.

Since Sarah Fier was hanged, Shadysiders believe her grip is what plagues the town of bad luck. Periodically, one of the townspeople becomes possessed, turning into a murderous henchman for Fier.

Since the beginning, Fear Street fans wanted to know more about Sarah Fier’s plague over Shadyside. But others had more of an interest in learning about Josh’s friend, the Queen.

Moreover, people wanted to understand the Queen of Air and Darkness’ fascination with the Shadyside Killers. Is the Queen’s intrigue innocent like Josh’s, or does she have more to do with the deaths in Shadyside than we think?

‘Fear Street’s Queen of Air and Darkness is one of Josh’s classmates

As revealed in the first part of Fear Street, Josh is often chatting on AOL with someone using the username Queen of Air and Darkness. Both Josh and the Queen have an interest in the dark history and the Shadyside Killers.

Many Fear Street fans quickly turned to IMDb for answers after the first film was released. There, they found a small clue hinting at the Queen of Air and Darkness’ identity. Fans knew the character would be a teen girl, but they didn’t know how she would appear in the third Fear Street installment

Does ‘Fear Street Part 3: 1666’ Have a Post-Credits Scene?

In Fear Street Part 3, we learn the Queen is Josh’s classmate who has just as much interest in lore, science, and technology as Josh does. As she educates Martin (Darrell Britt-Gibson) on compression rates, the unnamed character signs Josh’s cast “@queenofairanddarkness.”

We finally have a face for the screen name, but not much else. Rachel Doman is listed as the actor for “Queen of Air and Darkness Girl” in Fear Street: 1666

Queen of Air and Darkness theories before ‘Fear Street Part 3: 1666’ release

Before Part 3: 1666 was released, there were theories about who the Queen of Air and Darkness could be. One idea says the Queen of Air and Darkness might be Sarah Fier.

Considering how powerful Sarah Fier’s grip is on Shadyside, the idea of her using the internet isn’t entirely unlikely. Plus, “Queen of Air and Darkness” is a witchy-sounding screen name.

But now that the trilogy is complete and we know who the Queen is, many fans have turned their attention to the set of hands grabbing the Devil’s book at the end of 1666. Could the Queen have taken the book, what with her interest in curses, evil, and the lore of Shadyside?

Directed and co-written by Leigh Janiak, the Fear Street trilogy is available to stream on Netflix now.
