These Former Disney Channel Stars Released Holiday Music After Their Disney Careers
There’s plenty of Disney Channel original holiday music to stream. Some songs were even featured in shows like Good Luck Charlie and Austin & Ally. Some Disney Channel stars even branched out to create Christmas music after appearing on their respective television shows.
Here are some fan-favorite holiday hits from Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, and other musicians.
Disney Channel released Christmas albums like ‘Disney Channel Holiday Playlist’
Disney is known for debuting holiday content for younger viewers, from original movies to Christmas-themed episodes of Dog With a Blog, Ducktales, and other shows. However, it wouldn’t be a Disney Christmas without some holiday songs created by the stars of Disney Channel.
In 2008, Disney Channel released the Christmas album All Wrapped Up, complete with holiday covers from the Jonas Brothers, Aly & Aj, and the Plain White T’s. Years after its release, Disney premiered the Disney Channel Holiday Playlist on the streaming platform Spotify.
That included Zendaya’s “Shake Santa Shake” from Shake It Up, Ross Lynch’s “Christmas Soul” from Austin & Ally, and Good Luck Charlie’s “My Song For You.” Some Disney Channel actors even released holiday songs following their Disney appearances.
Some Disney Channel stars released holiday music outside of their Disney stardom
With some Disney Channel stars working on solo music outside of their Disney careers, a few iconic holiday hits were released over the years. In 2017, in conjunction with Spotify Sessions, Hannah Montana’s Miley Cyrus recorded versions of “Sleigh Ride” and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.”
The following year, she recorded a version of “Happy Xmas (War is Over),” a song popularized by John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Cyrus even performed a live version of this holiday favorite for Saturday Night Live, singing alongside Sean Ono Lennon and Mark Ronson.
To promote their tour with Nick Jonas, Lovato recorded a version of “Silent Night.” This actor previously starred in the Disney Channel original series Sonny With a Chance. There, they performed “My Song For You” with Joe Jonas for a holiday special.
Disney Channel released original Christmas movies, including ‘Good Luck Charlie It’s Christmas’
In addition to releasing holiday episodes of fan-favorite series’ like The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and That’s So Raven, Disney Channel debuted original holiday films. That includes Good Luck Charlie It’s Christmas and the 2021 film Christmas Again.
There are also Christmas movies on Disney+ created by studios other than Disney Channel. That includes Home Alone and its sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Years later, Disney+ debuted their original remake of the holiday classic titled Home Sweet Home Alone.
Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas is listed in the Disney+ streaming library, as is Disney’s A Christmas Carol. Original songs featured in these Christmas movies are available on major music streaming platforms, including Spotify.
