Even Food Network host Giada De Laurentiis feels the after-holiday bloats and is ready to take on her annual food cleanse.

Find out more about the whole food cleanse De Laurentiis has developed for this new year. The chef’s 2022 reboot reflects the rough last couple of years that everyone has endured with a gentler, no-pressure approach.

De Laurentiis ‘reboots’ twice a year

As the chef explained in her 2021 book, Eat Better, Feel Better, she makes sure to complete a reboot cleanse not once, but twice a year.

“Rebooting makes me feel so good that I do it at least twice a year, usually right after the holidays in January, and then again when I get back from my annual summer vacation, when I tend to indulge in a lot more trips to the ice cream shop, bakery, and pizza parlor than I probably should,” she wrote.

She added that she might extend her “three-day mini-cleanse” to four or five days if she really felt “the effects of having wandered off the straight and narrow.”

Her 2022 ‘Feel-Good Cleanse’

De Laurentiis’ lifestyle and food blog, Giadzy, breaks down her 2022 cleanse and makes it clear that it’s not meant to be rigorous or punishing. It’s designed to be customizable to the user’s needs and after the last two years of shutdowns, lockdowns, and the general pandemic experience, it’s meant to be gentle.

“It’s that time of year – new year’s resolutions!,” the Giadzy staff announced. “Here at Giadzy, it’s customary that we kick off the new year with a clean-eating cleanse. This year, though, we’re doing things a little differently – and looking to redefine the word ‘cleanse’ while we’re at it.

“Going into 2022, we’re all about feeling good … This time around, the goal of our ‘cleanse’ is really just to feel like your best self: how to function best in your day-to-day life, and finding what works for you in that journey – it is different for everyone.”

De Laurentiis’ cleanse isn’t restrictive

You won’t find any cayenne and maple syrup concoctions here. Instead, De Laurentiis offers categories for those wanting to recharge their bodies with nourishing, healing recipes. There’s one category “for those looking to fit more vegetables in their day”; another for those craving dairy-free recipes; a gluten-free listing of recipes from De Laurentiis; quick and healthy recipes for busy days; a “soul-warming” comfort food category; and of course, desserts (on the healthy side, naturally).

As the Everyday Italian star’s blog explains, “All of these meal options were chosen to make us feel better in one way or another – with feel-good foods that make your gut happy, with non-dairy or non-gluten recipes for those with sensitivities, and even an option for super quick and easy meals so you can spend more of your evening relaxing.”
