Celebrities have a way of popularizing uncommon phrases for us all to think about using. In the early 2000s, fans of reality TV shows started saying “that’s hot” thanks to Paris Hilton or “dunzo” thanks to Laguna Beach. These days, divorced couples are also increasingly aware of Gwyneth Paltrow’s “conscious uncoupling” method.

In the near future, perhaps we will start seeing another phrase enter our collective vocabulary. Both Gisele Bundchen and Selling Sunset star Heather Rae Young seem to be popularizing a unique phrase to describe their stepmother role. Read on below to find out what it is.

Gisele Bundchen is a stepmom to Tom Brady’s oldest son

Gisele Bundchen is currently married to football star Tom Brady. The couple has two children together: Benjamin (born 2009) and Vivian (born 2012). Additionally, they are joined by a son named Jack, who was born in 2007. Jack is Brady’s son from his previous relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan.

Although the tabloids suspected there was a lot of drama going on between Bundchen and Moynahan when Jack was born, it seems the Brady family is quite peaceful now. In fact, Bundchen and Moynahan look like they get along well with one another, and the three stars are setting an example for a successful co-parenting relationship.

Heather Rae Young will soon be an official stepmom to Tarek El Moussa’s kids

Selling Sunset’s Heather Rae Young will soon be in a situation similar to what Bundchen is going through. Young is currently engaged to Flip or Flop star Tarek El Moussa. Many viewers of Flip or Flop might know that El Moussa and his ex-wife, Christina Anstead, have two children together: Taylor (born 2010) and Brayden (born 2015).

Although Young is not officially a stepmother yet, she is already acting in that role. Anyone who follows Young on social media is probably aware that she has been spending a lot of time with Taylor and Brayden. In November 2019, she even shared on Instagram that “being around the kids has brought me so much joy and taught me so much patience.”

While it’s common to describe Bundchen and Young as “stepmom,” it seems both of them also enjoy calling themselves something else: “bonus moms.”

Young recently posted a photo of her and El Moussa with the two children on Instagram. The real estate agent captioned the post, “I love being a bonus mom, future step mama!! Watching them grow up in front of my eyes. So loving and so Curious about life.”

Meanwhile, Bundchen revealed in 2019 that she much prefers to be called a “bonus mom” over “stepmom.”

“I don’t like the word ‘stepmom,’” Bundchen said in an Instagram story. “I like the word ‘bonus mom’ because I feel like it’s a blessing in my life. I feel so lucky that I got to have an extra wonderful little angel in my life.”

In 2018, she also told People that Jack is considered her “bonus child.” The supermodel said, “I’m so grateful for [Bridget]. I know this was hard, but I couldn’t imagine my life without [Jack]. I call him my bonus child.”
