‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Fans Debate if Arizona Is Returning or if It’s an April Fool’s Trick
Grey’s Anatomy fans got to see some familiar faces return in season 18, like Kate Walsh, who played Dr. Addison Montgomery. Will it happen again with Jessica Capshaw returning as Dr. Arizona Robbins? This is how fans are reacting to a picture one of the stars shared.
Arizona Robbins was last seen in ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 14
Arizona was the Head of Fetal Surgery. She used to be married to Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez), and they share a daughter named Sofia. When Callie wanted to move to New York with Sofia, their relationship became messy. Arizona fought for custody to keep their daughter in Seattle.
Arizona was granted full custody, but she agreed to do alternating school years with Callie. Eventually, Arizona decided to move to New York to be near Sofia full-time.
“The characters of Arizona and April are permanently woven into the fabric of Grey’s Anatomy thanks to the extraordinary work of Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew,” showrunner Krista Vernoff said in a statement, according to Deadline. “As writers, our job is to follow the stories where they want to go, and sometimes that means saying goodbye to characters we love. It has been a joy and a privilege to work with these phenomenally talented actresses.”
Some ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ fans think Arizona is returning
Camilla Luddington, who plays Jo Wilson, posted a picture hugging Capshaw on March 31 on Instagram. Wilson looks like she’s in her hospital costume for the show, while Capshaw wears a white lace dress. Luddington captioned it with “Hi. This happened today. And my heart is full because of it..@jessicacapshaw #greysanatomy.”
Fans were quick to react in the comments. “ARIZONA RETURN SEASON 19,” one fan wrote.
“WAIT YOUR ON SCRUBS- SO JESSICA WAS ON SET,” another person commented.
“Ok. I need Arizona come back and Hopefully She can talk a little sense into Carina here, about the choose of donor,” a third fan wrote in reference to Station 19.
Other fans believe Camilla Luddington is pulling an April’s Fool prank
However, there are other fans who are containing their excitement. “She’s probably just visiting Camilla, cause they’re friends,” one fan wrote on Reddit.
“Isn’t april fools??” another person asked.
“This seems like a deliberate red herring,” someone else theorized. “Hate to be the party pooper but Camilla Luddington has been known to bait the fans. She said Jo had brilliant storylines and awesome scripts in seasons 17 and 18 and we know how that has turned out. This seems to be a way to make people watch the show as ratings are at the lowest. Camilla and Jessica are very close (wierd tho, I don’t remember Arizona and Jo sharing much scenes) and it seems Jesscia just visited Camilla , nothing related to Greys.”
Fans will have to wait to see who’s right. But Arizona hasn’t made it back to their screens yet.
