The last new episode of Grey’s Anatomy aired on Thursday, April 7. Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 returns with a new episode on Thursday, May 5. The episode is titled “Should I Stay or Should I Go,” and it’s the 16th episode of the season.
There are 20 episodes in Grey’s Anatomy Season 18. At the time of publishing, there are only five episodes left, including the two-hour Grey’s Anatomy finale event on May 26.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 18 finale is the 400th episode
Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 is going out with a bang! The final episode of the season is also the show’s 400th episode. It’s a remarkable achievement for the medical drama to hit 400 episodes. Even after all 395 episodes so far, the series remains one of the most popular shows on TV.
Only three seasons consist of fewer than 20 episodes. There are nine episodes in the first season. Only 17 episodes aired in seasons 4 and 17, and the latter was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 399th and the 400th episode of the series airs on May 26. Jesse Williams and Sarah Drew return for the season 18 finale. Fans are speculating if Jackson and April are back together.
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 19 is happening on ABC
For a short time, it looked like the series could end with 18 seasons and 400 episodes. That’s not happening, though.
ABC renewed Grey’s Anatomy for season 19 in January, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Ellen Pompeo returns for season 19, along with Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr.
Although the series is coming back, much more remains unknown about season 19, including the premiere date, full cast, episode count, and more. Typically, new seasons of Grey’s Anatomy premiere in late September. As we get closer to the end of season 18 and into the summer, ABC, the cast, and crew should reveal more information about the upcoming season.
ABC did not confirm season 19 will be the final season, and fans already have hope it’s renewed for season 20, as well.
