Gwyneth Paltrow Once Revealed the NSFW Advice She Received From Rob Lowe’s Wife
Gwyneth Paltrow and Rob Lowe have been friends for years. However, the Goop podcast host and Lowe’s wife, Sheryl Berkoff, have been pals for much longer — and are so close that the makeup artist once shared some of her bedroom secrets with a Paltrow when she was just a teenager.

In July 2020, Paltrow joined longtime friend Lowe on his Literally! With Rob Lowe podcast.
The two chatted about a number of things during the episode. But one topic that stood out from the rest was when Paltrow opened up about her friendship with Lowe’s wife, Berkoff, who she’s known since she was a teenager.
Paltrow explained that she met Berkoff in 1988. The View From the Top star was visiting her mother, Blythe Danner, on a TV movie set in Florida, and Berkoff was Danner’s makeup artist.
“I met Sheryl when I was 15 or 16,” Paltrow recalled. “She was a makeup artist at the time doing a certain Blythe Danner’s makeup, my mother.”
The actor admitted that she “was immediately obsessed with” Berkoff and that they instantly bonded after meeting.
“First of all, she was dating Keanu Reeves, who was my celebrity crush, and she was so cool,” she said. “And she knew that I was sneaking cigarettes, and she would come smoke with me behind the trailer.”
“I just worshipped her. I thought she was literally the coolest chick of all time,” Paltrow continued, adding that she appreciated how Berkoff treated her like an adult. “She was so awesome to me. And I was a high school kid. Like, the fact that she’s loved me that much before I was anyone or anything, you know?”

While gushing about Berkoff, Paltrow opened up about a pivotal moment in their friendship, which was when the makeup artist shared some of her bedroom tips with the then-underaged actor.
“She taught me how to give [oral sex], and you know, all the classic Sheryl stuff,” Paltrow said.
Though Paltrow didn’t share with Lowe the specifics of what Berkoff told her, she did note that she appreciated the makeup artist being so open about sex, especially since her “prim” mom would have never discussed this topic with her.
“It was so cool to have someone treat me like an adult and see me as like a young woman and someone who is sexual,” Paltrow explained. “She just made me feel so free.”

After meeting on the set of her mother’s film, Paltrow and Berkoff remained close friends in subsequent years.
Paltrow even revealed that she used to stay with Berkoff and Lowe in their guestroom after the couple started dating in the late ’80s.
“Sheryl started dating an actor named Rob Lowe, which was very exciting,” Paltrow shared. “Because Rob Lowe in the ’90s was a dangerous and scintillating proposition.”
Since then, Paltrow has continued to be a close friend of the Lowe-Berkoff family.
She even lent a hand in honoring the former “Brat Pack” member in 2015 while he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“I met Rob Lowe when I was 17 years old,” she said during the ceremony, according to Yahoo. “I was in Los Angeles and trying to start becoming an actress and Sheryl and Rob took me under their wing. They were always so loving and familial towards me and I knew that I always had a safe place here when I came to Hollywood.”
